Workshop: Save Our Jobs, Local Hospitals, and Public Services
Join AFSCME 3299 for a workshop to learn how passing Prop 40 protects our healthcare, our jobs, keeps emergency rooms open, and holds California’s billionaires accountable.
Workshop Overview
California’s healthcare system faces over $100 billion in federal budget cuts, threatening emergency rooms, public services, and workers' livelihoods statewide. Prop 40 keeps our schools and hospitals open and saves healthcare jobs from cuts. This one-time tax ONLY impacts Billionaires, not working people like us.
This workshop will explain why it matters to healthcare workers and working families, and outline how we can organize to win this November.

Thanks to the Labor Movement including AFSCME 3299, Gov. Newsom signed the strongest AI bills in the country to protect workers and regulate AI at work.
Our work at the University of California is fundamentally human. We care for students and patients with our hands, and with our hearts. These common sense laws protect workers like us from greedy algorithms, AI surveillance, discipline, and more.

Our strength has always been in our roots, culture, and the generations who came before us.
From all the union activists who helped build 3299 into a force to be reckoned with, to the rising Latinx leaders shaping our future, we stand and fight together and always celebrate who we are! ¡Sí se puede!

“I’m actively practicing and speaking 20 languages to make patients feel safe and comfortable when they come to see me for their procedures.”
Matt “Bobcat” Ball is a Radiology Assistant II in the radiology department at the UC Davis Medical Center where he helps drain excess fluid from patients' abdominal cavities, often due to liver disease or cancer. For many patients, coming in for these procedures can be a difficult time and Matt is proud to be with them every step of the way. He makes sure their day feels a little lighter by connecting with them, sharing a laugh, and doing whatever he can to make them feel comfortable.
“I want to treat patients the way I want my family to be treated.”

As we reflect on the gains the labor movement has made, not just for unionized workers, but for all workers, we can be proud of what we have accomplished as a union.
Here at 3299, we have always led the charge, raising the bar for working people in California and beyond. We are carrying on the torch of a proud organizing tradition.
This year, our union won a historic new contract. We put housing on the ballot. We’re taking on billionaires, and investing in our communities – and our movement is only growing stronger.

As always, we demand and continue to push UC to pay up those campuses that are late ASAP!
Diana believed in UCLA Venice Family Clinic's mission was about caring for the community. She was valued and her work mattered…. Then Diana was laid off without any warning. Taking away people’s jobs is not fair, it’s not right!

Today, you should receive a 5% wage increase (ATB).
🚨 And we demand that campuses that are late paying the longevity bonus pay up ASAP!
UCLA Venice Family Clinic is the backbone clinic for low-income folks in that area. Oralia has been fighting UCLA for 5 years for short staffing. Laying off more workers is only going to make things worse for an already underserved community. This is Oralia’s story.

STOP THE LAYOFFS! Members of UPTE, @afscme3299, and @ibtlocal2010 stood in solidarity with workers who were laid off en masse at UCLA Health Venice Family Clinic centers.
UCLA Venice Family Clinic laid off a few of our members who provide critical care to LA’s elderly Latino and Black population. Their excuse? Medicare cuts. We’re ready to spill the tea…
