Riot police deploy heavily around the Constitutional Tribunal in Warsaw, Poland, creating physical barriers to block surrounding crowds and secure the area as tensions escalate.
States of Jersey Police in the English Channel says unauthorized drone activity is impacting flights in St. Peter. No further details.
U.S. ambassador to Poland says events at the Constitutional Tribunal are very serious and appear to be an unprecedented confrontation over the government’s use of state power and the independence of a constitutional institution, urging all sides to avoid actions that could provoke violence as thousands gather outside.
He adds: "America is on Poland’s side. It is not our place to judge or interfere in its internal affairs. Our concern is for the stability, security, and democratic future of a country we are proud to call our friend and ally."
The events unfolding tonight at Poland’s Constitutional Tribunal are very serious indeed. We appear to be witnessing an unprecedented confrontation over the government’s use of state power and the independence and authority of a constitutional institution.
Both sides offer sharply different accounts of what happened and why. Whatever the facts ultimately establish, thousands gathering outside the Tribunal make an already dangerous situation more combustible. The last thing Poland needs is a confrontation that spirals into something far worse.
America is on Poland’s side. It is not our place to judge or interfere in its internal affairs. Our concern is for the stability, security, and democratic future of a country we are proud to call our friend and ally.
I hope everyone involved—government officials, law enforcement, and demonstrators alike, to take a deep breath, and don’t take any action that could provoke violence or further escalation.
Americans and @POTUS care deeply about this country, its democracy, and its future. But Poland’s strength ultimately must come from within—from its people, its institutions, and their shared commitment to the rule of law.
Poland has come too far and accomplished too much to let political differences, no matter how strongly felt, put any of that at risk.
Polish President Karol Nawrocki returns to Poland early from Senegal to meet with the first president of the Supreme Court after the Constitutional Tribunal's website announces the suspension of its president and vice president.
Poland's Bogdan Święczkowski says he ordered security gates at the Constitutional Tribunal building to be unlocked after protests erupted over his reported suspension as court president; he then entered the grounds, called for calm and urged protesters to leave. - TVN24

NEW: North Korean state-sponsored hackers stole approximately $6.36 billion from Binance in the largest cryptocurrency theft on record, according to blockchain intelligence firm TRM Labs, which attributed the attack to the TraderTraitor group.
The funds moved across 10 blockchains beginning at 20:05 UTC on October 29, with most transfers occurring within 20 minutes.
The attack bears similarities to the February 2025 Bybit hack, also attributed to TraderTraitor by the FBI.
Tether, Circle, Ripple, World Liberty Financial and Arbitrum’s Security Council have frozen approximately $2.7 billion, while an estimated $2.4 billion remains beyond their reach.
Binance says initial investigation suggests security incident involved a compromised DevOps engineer’s laptop that allowed unauthorized withdrawal transactions, with no evidence of wallet private key leak; estimated impact around $6.3B, about $3B frozen on-chain so far, losses to be covered by SAFU fund and company funds, user funds safe, deposits and withdrawals temporarily suspended.
Binance's initial investigation suggests that the security incident may involve a compromised DevOps engineer’s laptop, which allowed an attacker to gain access to a service container and submit unauthorized withdrawal transactions. We have found no evidence of any wallet private key leak. We will share a detailed technical post-mortem once the investigation is complete and the facts are fully verified.
The estimated total impact sits at around $6.3B. We have worked with blockchain partners to freeze affected assets, with ~$3 billion frozen on-chain so far.
Binance will cover all losses from the SAFU fund and the company’s funds. User funds are safe. We will also publish an updated Proof of Reserves once the remediation is complete.
As an immediate precaution, Binance has:
- temporarily suspended deposits and withdrawals while security checks are completed;
- revoked the affected address authorisation;
- engaged law enforcement and blockchain intelligence partners to trace and recover funds.
Our teams are working around the clock to resolve this issue safely and thoroughly. We are working closely with our law enforcement partners to confirm the identity of these criminals and bring them to justice.
