.@BCMHouston has received more than $6M from @NIH to lead the new Peroxisomal Disorders Consortium. Led by Dr. Michael Wangler @mfwangler, it will advance research into rare genetic disorders affecting multiple organ systems. bit.ly/3WE3yhg
Proud moment last week at #ASHG2026: @DanielGCalame, MD, PhD presented new findings showing RNPS1 haploinsufficiency causes a syndromic neurodevelopmental disorder with skeletal anomalies. #Genomics #RareDisease #GREGoR
We joined colleagues and friends at the @bcmgenetics and @bcmhouston reception at #ASHG2026 last week. Kicked off the night with opening remarks by Brendan Lee, MD, PhD. What a great night to celebrate the people behind the #science.
See you next year, #ASHG!

I am very excited we are starting this NIH funded research project. It is a solemn privilege to do this work. I’ve been working on diseases of the Peroxisome for nearly 20 years now. We have so far to go in terms of treating these disorders. I have met many remarkable patients, families, doctors and scientists. Now a group of us can formally organize clinical research in centers from east to west, and give families hubs to share data centralize samples and move forward towards better treatment.
