Bad Pop

Everyone is saying how their pet strategy would have won. I don’t think my pet strategy would have won, but I do still believe it: One of the most unifying forces in American politics is eye rolling irritation at the earnest glitz aesthetic of modern mainstream liberalism and we would do well to abandon it in favor of a wholesale embrace of whatever aesthetic comes most naturally for a given candidate, presented in a far more lo-fi and authentic manner than any democratic consultant would allow today, and that if it’s designed never to piss anyone off, it is a failure that will also piss people off 2x the alternative. And I believe that everything, including messaging and policy, is downstream of aesthetic and vibe. And a key point of oppo is damaging that overriding aesthetic of a candidate, via policy or messaging or personal failing. I also think that Kamala did pretty well here, but I’d go 100x further
