Paul Conroy was a great journalist, human being and friend to so many. He did heroic things with incredible humility, and for all the right reasons. In an era when the frauds and propagandists are thriving, his passing is even more devastating. share.google/S6HCMfFcbLlQAMr…

At least 20 people were killed, including five journalists, by an Israeli attack on Nasser Hospital in Khan Younis, Gaza.
Two shells hit the hospital in quick succession - the second exploding as journalists and rescue workers arrived at the scene.
The UN said the killing of journalists should shock the world into demanding accountability and justice. The Israeli military said it regretted 'any harm to uninvolved individuals'.

Over the last year, Palestinian farmer Saeed al-Amour has attempted to defend his land in the occupied West Bank, as settler attacks have become more frequent and violent.
His olive groves near the Palestinian town of Al-Rakeez have become a target for Israelis from the illegal settlement of Avigayil, a kilometre away.

Very good factual analysis of what’s being done in Gaza by @adam_tooze It’s not complicated, and outlets who keep giving airtime to pundits who deny it are failing miserably. podcasts.apple.com/us/podcas…

Kudos to @NYMag for publishing this long and deeply reported piece by Suzy Hansen. Whether you know this issue well, or believe the myth that it’s too complicated to understand, it’s well worth your time, especially when we’re seeing so much cowardice from news orgs elsewhere
The accusation that Israel has committed war crimes in Gaza — likely hundreds, maybe even thousands — has become all but undeniable. Even Israel’s supporters, those who defended or withstood this publicly broadcast nightmare for 19 months, have reached some semblance of a limit.
For our latest cover story, @suzyhans examines how the war in Gaza has upended decades of humanitarian law: nymag.com/intelligencer/arti…
