An important piece on the ideological corruption of the APA by my colleague Colin and Andrew Hartz.
🚨 NEW: For the @WSJ, @Hartz_PhD and I expose the ideological takeover of the American Psychological Association.
The APA is facing the possible loss of its federal accreditation authority following allegations of widespread antisemitism.
But while the APA's antisemitism problem is serious, it's only a symptom of a much deeper ideological rot.
The organization has become so captured by radical left-wing political activism that its commitment to scientific objectivity competence is now in serious doubt.
We examined the program for this year's major APA Division 39 conference, which drew nearly 800 attendees and held 90 panels over four days.
By our count, roughly 70 of the 90 panels were overtly political, and always left-wing. Topics included abolishing the family, queer anarchist psychoanalysis, dismantling gender assessment guidelines, and white supremacy. One session even concluded with a drag show.
There was at least some hope that the threat of losing federal accreditation might prompt some institutional soul-searching. It didn't.
Instead, APA members just elected Candice Hargons as their next president. Her campaign identifies "systemic intersectional oppression" as the profession's "common enemy" and calls for rejecting the traditional scientific notions of objectivity.
Psychologists wield enormous influence over vulnerable patients, and the people seeking treatment deserve the peace of mind knowing that the care they're receiving care is evidence based and not tainted radical politics.
We believe most would agree that federal accreditation should actually mean something. If the APA cannot distinguish its scientific mission from its political activism, the Education Department should reconsider whether it deserves the government's endorsement as an authority over psychological training.

Carolyn Gorman with a fascinating new essay on the unintended consequences of the anti-bullying movement. It promised to eradicate bullying, but instead stretched the definition to include things like eye-rolling at someone or pulling a prank, and built a lucrative industry of consultants, while often ignoring real abuse. It's time for a correction.

Read Judge Glock's important story in our brand-new issue--it's generating ton of attention, including this excellent interview by MTS.
Manhattan Institute's @judgeglock explains why DOGE's biggest achievement wasn't saving trillions, but shrinking the federal workforce by 270,000:
"The usual take in the media is that @elonmusk came in, promised trillions of dollars of savings, and came up woefully short because he fundamentally didn’t understand how government worked. To some level, I give credit to that view."
"If you don’t judge them relative to those claims, you judge them relative to what they actually accomplished, well, then it looks pretty reasonable."
"The Federal Civil Service lost about 270,000 people. The workforce is 12% smaller than it was before, the fastest decline since World War II. And despite everyone in the media desperately trying to find stories about the federal government falling apart, it’s operating pretty much like it did before."

Wait I was assured just this morning by another journalist that it was only Kara Swisher on a podcast talking this way and she is not a politician or an official or anything so don't take it seriously.
Lord.

The conference panels at this American Psychological Association division event are so absurd that someone who hasn't been paying attention to the APA might think @SwipeWright and @Hartz_PhD made them up.
But those of us who've followed the APA for the last several years are entirely unphased by the fact that all the absolute junk being pushed has nothing to do with good psychological or therapeutic principles.

The socialist bloc on Chicago’s City Council is now the largest of any major U.S. city. Mayor Brandon Johnson (CTU-backed and a socialist fellow-traveler) has elevated them to committee chairs and key posts. Their platform is pure lunacy, with calls for removing cops from public spaces, nationalizing (or rather, municipalizing) utilities, and the “total abolition of the capitalist system”—even as the Windy City faces a terrifying fiscal cliff, failing schools, and the accelerating flight of residents and firms from an increasingly dysfunctional and costly situation. Here’s Aidan Grogan with his first feature essay for City Journal, on Chicago’s history with the socialists. city-journal.org/article/chi…

amazing how they don’t even pretend elon committed a crime, because they know it doesn’t matter if he did. they’ll find something. the point is just they really hate him, and when democrats really hate someone he belongs in prison.
On the Bulwak podcast, Kara Swisher says Elon might already be in jail under Kamala Harris, and "he knows what's coming for him."
Another one to put in the "what Democrats plan to do if they take power" file:
"If Donald Trump loses the House and the Senate, I would worry. I'd be worried if I were him."
"So they're going to start investigating again. You think he's not on the list? He's at the top of that list."
"He has a very big sense of fate. And I think it's coming for him. And real hard."
They're all just saying this stuff out loud now. There are no secrets about what they want to do.

Swisher and others like her are wannabe apparatchiks in the new regime they want imposed
It's honestly insane.
You have the greatest entrepreneurial genius of all time right in front of you. And on top of that, you're lucky he's completely sane. Give that kind of power to a Bill Gates and we'd already be living in 1984.
You're corrupt to the bone, and you know full well you're lying.
Instead of saying "ok, we lost, let's let Elon finish what he started," your first instinct is to want him in prison.
For what, exactly? For soon giving sight back to the blind? For forcing the entire car industry to go electric? For launching, again and again, projects that move humanity forward?
This class of corrupt Democrats makes me sick.

Printed versions of the environmental impact reports for California's high-speed rail project stopped a .50-caliber bullet.
130,000 pages of environmental impact reports, a $100 billion budget, and nearly 20 years later—they haven't put down a single piece of railroad track.

We have reached such insane levels of absurdity.
"Elon, thanks for helping Ukraine. Now we are going to seize your companies and maybe even throw you in prison."
It's like a Babylon Bee headline. The "No Kings" people want the government to nationalize Musk's businesses. 😂
