⚾ RECRUITING ADVICE: STOP CHASING ROSTER NEEDS One of the biggest mistakes I see families make in the recruiting process is putting too much emphasis on which colleges have a roster need at their position. Here's the reality: Roster needs can change overnight. As a freshman, you will need to beat out a few returners and incoming guys regardless. Between the transfer portal, coaching changes, roster movement, and the constantly evolving landscape of college baseball, what a program needs today could look completely different six months from now. Does that mean roster needs don't matter? Absolutely not. But in my opinion, they should be pretty low on the list when determining which schools are the best fit. For 90%+ of student-athletes, I believe two things should be at the very top of that list: 🎓 ACADEMICS: Does the school offer the education, degree programs, and opportunities that align with your future? 🏫 COLLEGE EXPERIENCE: Is this somewhere you can genuinely see yourself being happy for four years? Do you like the campus, location, culture, and overall environment? Baseball is important. Playing time is important. Finding an opportunity is important. But your college decision should be about much more than where a coach might need a player at your position. Find schools that fit YOU first. Then figure out where the baseball opportunities exist. The recruiting landscape will continue to change, but choosing a school for the right reasons will never go out of style. Don't build your college list around a roster spot that might not exist tomorrow. There's absolutely NOTHING wrong with hiring a recruiting service or consultant to help navigate the college baseball recruiting process. We push our platform out to entire club organizations and high school programs & I fall into this category as well. But let's be real… these businesses are popping up EVERYWHERE! Why? Because people recognize the fear, confusion, and uncertainty families experience during recruiting. Before spending your hard-earned money...do your homework. Ask questions, research their experience, understand what you're actually getting, and make sure their intentions align with your family's goals. If it's, "I have a lot of connections and will make calls for your son," that is scary to me. *How do they track their calls? *Who are they talking to? *How often are you in touch with them about progress? *What EXACTLY are they going to do for you or your program? I’ve had a few people mention to me that they aren’t excited about this World Series. If you don’t like good coaching, solid defense, quality 2-strike AB’s, playing hard, headsy baserunning, pounding the zone, all that ultimately lead to winning a lot of games, then I don’t know how I can respect you if you’re in the baseball world.

Playing for GBG and attending Mission Prep High School in San Luis Obispo, Jackson has a great glove and is comfortable playing SS, 2B, or 3B. Offensively, Jackson has the ability to use the entire field and continues to develop as he grows into his frame. He is open geographically when it comes to finding the right college baseball opportunity. Jackson also gets it done in the classroom, carrying an impressive 4.4 GPA, which should open the door to a wide range of academic and baseball opportunities. ⚾️ WATCH BASEBALL. It sounds simple, but I think it’s one of the most overlooked parts of player development. We watch a lot of baseball in the Centanni house. And I don’t mean just having the game on in the background. Watch what players do without the ball. Watch positioning. Watch how runners read situations. Watch how pitchers attack hitters. Watch defensive alignments. Try to figure out what might happen before the pitch is even thrown. You can learn a ton about this game simply by watching people who play it at a high level. Practice the game. Play the game. Study the game. I went to an aquarium the other day and watched about 300 fish swimming in the same direction. There was one little guy that wanted to be different.
