Child marriage is a human rights violation, and it’s still happening to one in five girls worldwide. It ends their schooling, narrows their choices, and puts their health and safety at risk.
At CARE, we work with girls, boys, families, and community leaders to change the drivers of child marriage and open up new paths for girls.
#Haiti: "When we say people are facing crisis levels of hunger, we are talking about families who can’t reliably put enough food on the table, who are skipping meals, selling what little they own, or going into debt just to eat. As a result, the most vulnerable people such as children, as well as pregnant and lactating women, are growing weaker and sicker." - Dianna Darsney, CARE’s Global Humanitarian Director.

The price of cooking gas has more than quadrupled in #Yemen. The September escalation of the war has pushed families into sites already strained by years of war. CARE’s assessments in Taiz governorate found that adults and children were already reducing meal portions and eating less frequently to preserve what little food they had.

Nigeria’s first Ebola case, confirmed on Tuesday, and the nine cases reported in Kenya over the past two weeks mark a significant escalation of an outbreak that has now spread beyond the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC).
As transmission crosses borders, so too do the risks, threatening not only lives but economic activity, access to essential services and the capacity for survival in communities already struggling to withstand multiple overlapping crises.
