Commissioner Lahore Division Nauman Yousuf is continuing his visits to review public health facilities, cleanliness, medical services delivery, the ongoing anti-polio campaign, and anti-dengue measures. Commissioner Lahore today visited the Ghaziabad Tehsil Headquarter (THQ) Hospital. He reviewed the cleanliness, medical facilities, and the provision of free medicines at the THQ hospital. Commissioner Lahore checked the records of the medicine store and inspected miscellaneous medicines regarding their expiry dates. He also reviewed the records of the ongoing anti-polio campaign counters, inspected the fire hydrants in the hospital, taken feedback from patients in the emergency ward. Later, Commissioner Lahore Nauman Yousuf visited the Ghaziabad area of Lahore and reviewed the dengue larva surveillance performance of the anti-dengue field teams.He stated that November is a highly crucial month for dengue prevention, emphasizing that absolutely no negligence will be tolerated in surveillance. Anti-Smog Divisional Meeting Chaired by Commissioner Lahore Nauman Yousuf. Divisional Meeting Attended by DCs of All Four Districts. Crackdown on Burning Crop Residue: 1 FIR Registered, 6 Prosecutions Filed. Briefing.* “Issue warning notices, make announcements via mosques, and raise awareness among farmers regarding anti-smog measures. No stone must be left unturned for the eradication of violations. Commissioner Lahore* *Setting green waste on fire is a punishable offense. PHA, Suthra Punjab, and environment teams must take strict action.– Commissioner Lahore* Commissioner Lahore Division Nauman Yousuf issued instructions regarding anti-smog measures to the Deputy Commissioners of all four districts included in the Lahore Division, as well as the Departments of Environment and Agriculture. The Commissioner Lahore stated that anti-smog squads must be established in all districts and made 100% active in the field. He mentioned that rice harvesting has begun, and there is zero tolerance for burning crop residue. He instructed the district administration and the agriculture department to form squads and take strict action against those setting crop residue on fire. Commissioner Lahore emphasized that warning notices must be issued, announcements made via mosques, and awareness raised among farmers regarding anti-smog efforts, adding that no stone should be left unturned for the eradication of smog. Smog squads must remain active in Nankana, around the Sheikhupura Motorway, and within internal areas. He further stated that setting green waste on fire is a punishable offense, and PHA, Suthra Punjab, and environment teams must take strict action against it. A divisional meeting was held under the chairmanship of Commissioner Lahore Nauman Yousuf. The meeting was attended by the Deputy Commissioners (DCs) of all four districts. Officers from the district administration and the Environment Department briefed the meeting. During the briefing, it was stated that traffic and environment squads have been deployed at the entry and exit points of Lahore for anti-smog enforcement. Action has been taken against burning crop residue, resulting in 1 FIR registered, 6 prosecutions filed, and fines of Rs. 90,000 imposed. Commissioner Lahore Division Nauman Yousuf has stated that regulations must be strictly enforced on transport vehicles and sand-carrying trolleys entering the city at night. Traffic police and regional transport authorities must fine and impound smoke-emitting vehicles. He emphasized that there is a complete ban on substandard fuel, garbage burning, and tyre burning, with all districts actively conducting crackdowns. The Commissioner Lahore instructed that strict action be taken against burning crop residue, with a special focus on this issue. There is zero tolerance for brick kilns operating without zigzag technology or emitting black smoke. Furthermore, the Commissioner Lahore stated that monitoring must be carried out at public and private construction sites according to smog SOPs, and uniform legal action must be taken for violations at both public and private sites.
