Chonks Are Cool, and Backseats is one of my favorite builders! Always excited to see how the ecosystem develops!
I've been quietly frustrated with crypto for a while. Some of it leaks out on the timeline. Most of it happens in group chats with friends, where I keep trying to name a product category I can feel but can't quite articulate.
Here's my best shot: NFTs can be durable digital toys.
Think about the toys you had as a kid. If it was in your drawer, you could come back 20 years later and, as long as nobody threw it out, it was still there, exactly how you left it.
Digital things don't work like that. The company goes out of business or gets acquired, the servers shut off, and your stuff is just gone. And more and more of our lives are digital.
So what makes a digital toy durable?
It's yours. Provably, verifiably yours. Not "yours until the terms of service change." You should be able to come back years later, read the chain, and pick up right where you left off. The actual data, same as it was before.
It's expandable. As a kid, you'd grab two sets of toys and imagine what they could do together. You'd race your cars down a ramp you built out of blocks. They were sold separately, by different companies, but in your room you played exactly how you liked.
Onchain toys work the same way. You don't need my permission to build on what I made. If you want to use it in a way I never would, just ask your favorite coding agent to build the thing you always wished existed! No need to wait on me.
Rare means rare. When something might carry real value, you need honest bookkeeping. If we release 100 of something and rescind ownership of the contract, we cryptographically cannot make more. Anyone can check. No mystery pack odds. No quietly printing extras.
Here's the thing, though. Nobody wants to buy a "verifiable toy." That's not fun. The blockchain can be the source of truth. It's there if you want it even if most people will never look at it. The toy is the point.
That's what we're building with Chonks.
Your Chonk is yours. It doesn't depend on us at all. Its traits and history live on-chain, so if you come back in ten years, it's right where you left it.
It's expandable: anyone can plug their Chonk (or anyone else’s) into a game, a comic, or some weird tool we never imagined, no permission needed.
And when we drop a trait collection, the number we say is the number that exists. Forever.
We spent years treating this stuff like it was only about pictures and floor prices. I think what comes next is a lot more fun.
Durable digital toys: digital toys that are actually yours.

Did you know you can ask the most cracked group of pixel artists to paint ANYTHING for you? And it's pretty much guaranteed to come out beautiful, witty and fun: basepaint.xyz/theme
I haven't been this excited about a Web3 project in a long time. 99% of NFTs mint and then spend the next 1-5 years (if they're lucky) trying to find PMF then sunsetting. Giga Legends may be the first to take what is already working and create an NFT collection to fit.
We don't know exactly what form that's going to take yet, but I have a lot of faith in @0xDith rewarding holders of an already massive IP and strong existing business. I believe opportunity here is unlike anything we've seen in Web3 space in recent history. GLHF.
LFG! These look so dope.
Make sure to check even if you're not showing top 100 right now, looks like I was top 100 over the last 30 days because of some social activity!

There’s a bunch of stuff i didn’t like about gigaverse during my time on Abstract, the whole ecosystem felt kinda extractive, and even when i tried playing, it felt like i had to keep throwing more money at the game on top of my initial bet just to stay competitive, even tho i owned multiple assets, i still had to pay for a quarterly juiced sub to get the most out of it, which honestly always rubbed me the wrong way.
BUT gotta give credit where it’s due, the team knows their shit.
▪️Giga Noob is going absolutely crazy on YT, with 2.2M subs and reels pulling millions of views, and it’s all organic, no paid bs, the growth is actually insane ngl this could legit be the next Pudgy Penguins if not something 100x bigger.
▪️Gigaverse has one of the strongest communities out there mostly because literally anyone can play, not just holders, can’t remember the exact player count on Abstract, but i’m pretty sure they’re #1 in terms of players on the entire ecosystem.
▪️they’re constantly shipping on both the web2 and web3 sides, Giga Noob is farming crazy numbers on YT, and about a month ago they dropped Nooby, a mobile app that’s still being built out, on the web3 side, Gigaverse Online is getting close to launch, and that’s easily one of the most hyped releases in web3 gaming rn.
despite all the stuff i didn’t like, i’m still pretty bullish on @gigaverse, they’ve got the funding, the IP is cracked, and the community is strong af.
now it’s all about execution, Gigaverse Online and Giga Legends have a lot of potential, but let’s see if they can actually cook.
Next chapter incoming for @gigaverse! Team has basically said ROMs will be burned for this new collection, which has sent the price up 40%. I'm expecting it will be tied to the migration off Abstract. Can't wait to see what the team has cooked up!

Wow I hate the new @opensea profile view. I do not want to be forced to group my NFTs, and I absolutely do not want to be forced to look my P&L in the face. 😑
Looks like base:0x22af33fe49fd1fa80c7149773dde5890d3c76f3b is on sale again - @bankrbot, buy me $250 worth.
Another stunner from @basepaint_xyz
