Last spring, my awesome parents took a big leap and traded in their SUV😱 for a @RadPowerBikes e-bike!
Once infrequent bike users have now ridden 1,000+ miles in less than a year🥳.
Yet another example of the power of e-bikes to change lives 🥲.
Replying to @natalia_barbour
Sold our SUV last Spring. Just put 1002 miles on our ebike. 1002 miles we didn’t drive our car
Taking a @bikeshare e-bike to the CaBi station at @Reagan_Airport is without a doubt the best way to go!

I would watch the crap out of a Hooded Merganser Bachelorette spin-off

The answer is infrastructure.
Don't build cities to maintain the status quo. Build it for the future we want and it will happen.
Driving 156 mph is obviously insane, but it shouldn't even be possible!! In DC, tiny little SCOOTERS can't go above 10 MPH but for those large death machines, feel free to go drag race or whatever because...freedom.
This won’t fix everything and should be accompanied with expanded bus service and bus lanes 🚌. But at least it’s another indication that DC leadership recognizes bikes as a source of transportation. All aboard the CaBi train!
To ease travel disruptions caused by reduced Metrorail service, we are partnering with @Lyft to offer a free 30-day Capital Bikeshare membership to all DC residents who may need it.
With a membership, 45-min rides are FREE.

Quite a tweet from Volkswagen's CEO [translated from German]:
"In overcrowded urban centers, the car - including the emission-free e-car - will only be accepted in the future if the bike has enough space in the mobility mix."
So much good just from rethinking public space, "50% of public space is occupied by private cars, which are used mostly by the richest, and mostly by men, because it’s mostly men who drive, and so in total, the richest men are using half the public space." slate.com/business/2021/09/p…
