The Reflecting Pool was copied from the great canal at Fontainebleau. The Senate Park Commission spent July 13, 1901 there, and the canal became the pool in their plan for the Mall. xitter.cf/TBCNewsAction/status/2…

3b THE TRIP: VERSAILLES They spent July 11 at Versailles and July 13 at Fontainebleau. The tapis vert at the Basin of Apollo, grass with a road down each side, became the Mall. Fontainebleau’s great canal became the Reflecting Pool. The shaded avenues became the Monument grove.
