Watch this video featuring our work @CivRightsCorps to learn about how our case will free almost 20,000 people from jail every year in Houston, Texas.
THREAD. When people like Haley Stevens or Fetterman begin openly endorsing fascism, it's helpful to step back and see their role in the counterinsurgency and propaganda ecosystems because it relates to other Democratic Party politicians, pundits, and non-profits.
As Stuart Hall explains, in these moments of potential crisis--for capital, for zionism, etc.--the fascist monster always lurking beneath the surface of these counterinsurgency operatives rears its head.
This is one of the reasons I just wrote about the lies many on "the left" and "the center" have been spreading about repression. This is counterinsurgency --although not *everyone* is conscious of the role they are playing. But it's vital to see: equalityalec.substack.com/p/…
THREAD. Every single time you see Democrats, Jacobin Magazine, Malcolm Gladwell, or a non-profit organization telling you to support existing levels of policing and police budgets, understand this is what they want you to support:
Also, note that only 4% of all police time in the U.S. deals with "violent crime." It's mostly targeting the poorest people in the U.S. for low-level stuff that no one thinks gets better with jails + targeting social movements and activists. That's what police actually do.
I wrote about why all these "progressives" and "centrists" are lying to you about what police do and the consequences of their support for more surveillance and militarized policing. One of the most important but widely accepted lies in our society. equalityalec.substack.com/p/…
incredibly important commentary on the treatment of policing and safety by left institutions and political figures

About to go live on Black Liberation Media to discuss my new piece Why Is Everyone Lying: youtube.com/channel/UCC6o7j4…
Here's the piece itself: equalityalec.substack.com/p/…
What do Malcolm Gladwell, far right propagandists, Democratic Party politicians, the non-profit Vera Institute for Justice, and “socialists” from Jacobin Magazine have in common? I wrote about how they are all misleading people about crime and safety, and why it matters so much.

Malcolm Gladwell just published a new book and gone on one popular show after another arguing that the U.S. needs to massively expand the profitable police surveillance state. The entire argument is based on an embarrassing factual error.
I wrote about the fraud being perpetrated by numerous powerful people and institutions, including many people who identify as "progressives" and "socialists." In my view, this is one of the most urgent possible discussions in this authoritarian moment. equalityalec.substack.com/p/…

I have just published a piece that is very important to me. It's about why so many "progressives" and people on "the left" are lying to us right now about crime, safety, and repression, and what we should be doing instead. equalityalec.substack.com/p/…
Malcolm Gladwell is a fucking fraud and has made a career and millions just spewing bullshit that falls apart if you have a working brain or decide to lightly fact-check him. A phenomenally stupid man and grifter.
