Starting 2026 by writing more in public; mostly to think clearly.
I work on serious AI & VR systems, but the ideas that stick with me usually come from smaller places: learning, teaching, and building little tools at home.
This account will be personal, imperfect, and exploratory.
Planned our family Disneyland trip with AI.
• Claude Code as the agent
• Claude Skills for research, planning, tracking, and journaling
• A simple companion web app for itineraries, maps, and on-the-go help
Planning is usually a chore.
This turned it into play.

Something a mentor told me always stuck with me: the best engineers can build “something out of nothing”.
The “nothing” was not a vacuum of ideas but the lack of specificity. That engineering skill was to drive clarity into the ambiguity to deliver “something” truly special.

There's still a lot of work to do but I'm hoping this can really bring platforms like desktop, VR, and web closer to parity with what was originally a mobile-focused framework.

Built a “proof of life” for a video-streaming hackthon project all from my iPhone with React Native, Expo and Replit app - it was fun! Quite excited to do use this approach to build more such tiny projects in 2023.
Argentina & Messi - you were brilliant and resilient this entire World Cup!! What an absolutely thrilling final to bring it home!! 🎉⚽️🐐
Best podcast I listened to this week:
@SFELC_ and Maher Saba discussing:
• Building credibility as an Eng Leader
• Picking high risk, high reward situations
• Motivating large remote teams
• Finding power users & making your product shine for them (for Maher it was his mom!)

Replit mobile app is a great coding companion as you consume tutorials on the phone. Read something interesting? Spin up an instance from your phone, write some code, see the results, make edits to deeply understand. Takes learning to the next level!
