Clayface Wins Close Weekend Against Surging Documentary – Box Office Breakdown
“Going into the weekend, there was a lot of uncertainty concerning the latest movie from James Gunn’s DCU, Clayface, with mixed reviews (leaning positive) and the DC’s history of less-than-stellar box office performances, especially since Gunn took over as studio head. With the weekend estimates now in, the film’s performance is a bit of a mixed bag, as it was able to edge out the documentary You Can See Everything, which saw a 25% INCREASE in its second weekend.”
Marvel Releases Avengers: Doomsday Response Ad to World Series Preview
“The Ant-Man scene is the real point of the Avengers: Doomsday response ad, and it goes on for just a few extra seconds, but it makes the idea behind Ant-Man’s lines clearer.”
Fortnite x One Piece Crossover Will End Season 7
“Yesterday, confirmation began with a video from the official Fortnite X account announcing the next mini-season called ‘Treasure Hunters.’ But a second teaser from the Fortnite X account confirmed that these pirates would be the Straw Hat Pirates of One Piece, or at least some of them.”
Avengers: Doomsday World Series Exclusive Preview – Mr. Fantastic’s on the Mound, Thor’s Jealous, and Who’s the Real Cap?
“The World Series has begun, and the first game, which was played on Friday, had a surprise for fans: a new Avengers: Doomsday exclusive preview. Unsurprisingly, it was baseball-themed, and while the tie-in to the big game was front and center, a moment from the movie is what really has people talking.”
BioWare Veteran Defends Dragon Age: The Veilguard Developers as Gaming Media Dismisses Fan Backlash
“Former BioWare developer James Ohlen recently defended the employees who worked on The Veilguard, arguing that most had little influence over the controversial decisions that alienated longtime fans. His comments were subsequently covered by GamesRadar, which used the opportunity to characterize some of the backlash as outrage over the inclusion of a nonbinary character.
The resulting article illustrates a much larger problem with modern games journalism: an apparent unwillingness to distinguish legitimate consumer criticism from ideological hostility.”
REVIEW — Clayface Is Another Monstrous Misfire for James Gunn’s DCU With No Batman, No Horror, and No Reason to Care
“Clayface isn't completely without merit. Tom Rhys Harries gives a decent performance, and the opening act briefly suggests that the filmmakers might deliver something more interesting than the average comic book adaptation. Unfortunately, those early possibilities are squandered.
The horror gives way to generic revenge plotting, Matt Hagen's psychological collapse is poorly developed, the supporting characters are forgettable, the romance is unconvincing, and the visual effects are inconsistent.
Most disappointingly, the film introduces James Gunn's Gotham City without even acknowledging Batman's existence.
A movie set in Gotham City should at least feel like it takes place in Batman's world.
Clayface fails that basic test.
For a film intended to expand the DC Universe into new genres, it ultimately feels like a missed opportunity rather than a bold creative experiment.”
Computational Analysis May Have Solved a Decades Long Super Mario 64 Mystery
“However... a programmer named Mochi64 may have solved the three-decade-old mystery by performing a ‘complex analysis’ of the Super Mario 64 plaque to finally decode what it says, and they even made their results open source so anyone interested could check on their work.”
More Game Boy Classics Coming to Nintendo Switch Online
“Nintendo has announced more classic titles coming to the Nintendo Switch Online + Expansion Pack. This time, the games are coming to the Game Boy – Nintendo Classics app, with titles including a few lesser-known gems, one of which was produced by Miyamoto himself.”
Elon Musk Invests $1 Billion in David Ellison’s Skydance Following Warner Bros. Takeover
“The investment reportedly coincided with additional equity contributions from existing Skydance investors, including board member Laurene Powell Jobs.
Neither Musk nor Skydance has publicly confirmed the investment's terms, and the precise size of Musk’s ownership stake remains unknown.
Nevertheless, the reported transaction represents another major connection between some of the world’s wealthiest technology executives and an entertainment company that now controls an extraordinary collection of Hollywood properties.”
