Former EPP group member @BrankoGrimsX1 recalled how he stopped police from seizing his party’s servers in Slovenia. During our panel in Brussels, he said the similar seizure of Fidesz servers in Hungary was “against constitutional law” and “a crime by itself.”

Brussels elites prefer obedience over democracy. When the people elect the “wrong” candidate, political persecution begins. What is happening to Călin Georgescu is an outrageous abuse of power. Croatia fought a war for its independence, and we know the true value of freedom and national sovereignty. We will never accept political persecution or the abuse of power. We must never accept it. We will prevail! @ecrgroup

I talked to @MarioNawfal about the profound injustice and abuses against Călin Georgescu, about the coordinated attacks targeting AUR party and the sovereignist movement, and about the puppet governments that the globalist establishment is trying to impose in Romania 🇷🇴.
🇷🇴 Romania canceled its presidential election, jailed the man who WON the first round, and now opposition leader George Simion says he might be NEXT! I spoke with Simion about the extraordinary situation unfolding in Romania... It's really shocking. In November 2024, Călin Georgescu stunned the political establishment by winning the first round of the presidential election. Two weeks later, the Constitutional Court ANNULLED the vote over unproven allegations of foreign interference WITHOUT evidence!!! Now Georgescu is behind bars, ordered into 30 days of pretrial detention over an alleged €1.1 million fraud. But Simion insists the case is politically motivated, and he believes the crackdown won't stop with Georgescu: “After Călin, I will come next.” Simion says prosecutors have opened 7/8 criminal cases involving his party's leadership, and the pressure is now extending to their families. The playbook is clear: try to break the people on the other side so that they eventually give in... Georgescu's wife and father-in-law have been summoned for questioning, while the daughter of one opposition MP and the wife of another have also come under investigation. And then there's BIG BROTHER!! He says intercepted private conversations involving Georgescu were leaked to the press, including remarks criticising Simion himself. He believes the intention was to turn the two opposition figures against each other, but it DIDN'T work. And there's another extraordinary contradiction. Simion says Georgescu explicitly urged supporters to remain peaceful after the election was cancelled, telling them to express their anger through the ballot box. Yet Georgescu also faces prosecution over allegations of plotting violent unrest following the annulment. The authorities allege serious criminal wrongdoing. Georgescu denies the accusations, while Simion says the proceedings amount to a campaign of political persecution. And Simion is making clear that he has no intention of abandoning his ally: “We are prepared to go to prison.” He says the opposition will take its case to Brussels on October 14, demanding Georgescu's release and challenging what he describes as the erosion of Romanian democracy. Nearly two years after Romania cancelled its presidential election, the fight over what happened is escalating far beyond the ballot box. @georgesimion @CG_Romania

Thank you to George Simion, President of the Alliance for the Union of Romanians, Executive Vice-President of the ECR Party and Member of the Romanian Parliament, for joining Adam Bielan MEP, President of the ECR Party and Head of the PiS Delegation to the ECR Group, for an important discussion at the Youth Congress in Chełm on Europe’s security, NATO and transatlantic cooperation. Speaking during the panel, ECR Party President Adam Bielan said: “The U.S. is still the number one country when it comes to security. Europe alone, without a U.S. presence and without the U.S. nuclear umbrella, would be much weaker vis-à-vis Russia. So we need as many U.S. troops as possible.” @AdamBielan and @georgesimion also recorded a special message for the participants of the Youth Congress. Watch their message below. 👇

🇷🇴 George Simion: “Release Georgescu, or NO government.” Simion is escalating Romania’s political standoff after Călin Georgescu was placed in 30-day pre-trial detention. Simion says his party will refuse to support another proposed government until Georgescu is released, while claiming he was warned: “I’m next.” Georgescu won the first round of the presidential election, which the Constitutional Court annulled. He was then barred from running again, and there have since been several arrests... HOW LONG WILL THIS POLITICAL PERSECUTION LAST? Writer: Samuel

🚨 ROMANIA: POLITICAL CRISIS DEEPENS George Simion says AUR will refuse to support another proposed government until Călin Georgescu is released from prison. The confrontation between AUR, President Nicușor Dan and Romania’s governing establishment has now moved directly into Parliament. With Georgescu detained and protests continuing, the political temperature in Romania is rising fast. This story is far from over.
Another government proposed by Nicușor Dan has FAILED to secure the vote of the Romanian Parliament. We have not betrayed Romanian people, and we will not betray them! We will not vote for any other proposal until Călin Georgescu is released from prison. FREEDOM 🇷🇴!

🚨 🇷🇴BREAKING: ROMANIA: GEORGE SIMION DECLARES AUR READY TO GOVERN A significant development in Romania this morning. George Simion has emerged from formal talks with President Nicușor Dan with an uncompromising message: “AUR assumes the responsibility of governing.” And his position is clear: AUR will not vote for any government it is not part of. After months of political crisis, AUR is no longer simply demanding change from the opposition benches. It is demanding a seat at the table. Simion says Romania needs a government capable of governing for four years and that AUR is prepared to become “part of the solution.” He has also rejected pressure for AUR to step aside and warned that if Parliament cannot produce a government, Romania should return to the voters. There is no confirmed agreement yet on ministries or the next Prime Minister, so claims that portfolios have already been divided should be treated cautiously. But something important is happening in Bucharest. George Simion and AUR are now openly positioning themselves to move from opposition into government. I know George and have followed developments in Romania closely. I will be watching what happens next very carefully. @georgesimion @partidulAUR_RO

🇷🇴 Romanian conservative leader Simion just told Romania’s president that AUR (his party) IS READY TO RUN the country, not heckle it. He walked out of talks with Nicușor Dan and said his party will not vote for any cabinet it does not sit in. After months of drift he wants a government that can last four years, and if parliament cannot build one he wants another election. No ministries have been carved up and no prime minister has been named. Source: @georgesimion / Writer: Samuel

🇷🇴🇬🇧 GREAT TO SPEND TIME WITH GEORGE SIMION IN DUBROVNIK A real pleasure to meet again with George Simion, President of Romania’s Alliance for the Union of Romanians (AUR) and one of the leading figures in Europe’s growing conservative and sovereignty movement. George has built AUR into a major force in Romanian politics and continues to argue for national sovereignty, democratic accountability, family, faith, freedom and the preservation of national identity. What is happening in Romania matters far beyond Romania. Across Europe, millions of people increasingly feel that too much political power has moved away from national electorates and towards distant institutions that are too often insulated from the consequences of their decisions. George has been one of the most prominent voices challenging that direction and arguing that European cooperation should respect the sovereignty of nations rather than erase it. We may come from different countries, but many of the challenges are the same: Protect democracy. Protect national sovereignty. Protect freedom of speech. Protect our families and communities. And ensure that governments remain accountable to the people they are supposed to serve. It was good to spend time with George in Dubrovnik and discuss the direction Europe is taking. There is a great deal more coming from my time here — including new interviews and conversations with political leaders from across Europe. Watch this space. 🇬🇧🇷🇴 @georgesimion @ECRparty @partidulAUR_RO
