Our customer awoke to find the vehicle no longer outside their house. September was another busy month for the Global Telemetrics team, with £1.7 million worth of stolen vehicles recovered, taking our total to over £234 million in 20 years. Our quickest recovery of the month took just 13 minutes, while a Rolls-Royce Cullinan was the most expensive vehicle recovered. Looking at the figures, 91% of vehicles were stolen from residential addresses, with 33% of thefts involving keyless methods. Hertfordshire, Lincolnshire and London were our top three recovery locations for the month. With the darker nights now setting in, vehicle security should be high on everyone’s list of priorities. A car is stolen every 4 minutes in the UK according to an article published by the BBC. A team of investigators spent time speaking with six police forces across the country, who shared their frustrations with vehicle crime and the demands of keeping up with the criminals and technology. The cost of vehicle theft is being felt across the country, the article states, with insurance quotes rising by 82% since 2021 and an estimated cost of £1.7bn per year to the UK economy.
