I wish all who celebrate St. Patrick’s Day knew the true meaning of the holiday. It wasn’t established to celebrate leprechauns, the color green, or getting drunk. It was to honor and celebrate the life of a man who preached Christ throughout Ireland. His heart was focused on what matters most. St. Patrick once wrote these words: “Christ with me, Christ before me, Christ behind me, Christ in me, Christ beneath me, Christ above me, Christ on my right, Christ on my left, Christ when I lie down, Christ when I sit down, Christ when I arise, Christ in the heart of every man who thinks of me, Christ in the mouth of everyone who speaks of me, Christ in every eye that sees me, Christ in every ear that hears me.”

There was a 4 year old boy at Mass today with his grandma. He did all the responses about 2 beats behind everyone else, and I think I laughed every time. Parents and grandparents, bring your kids to daily Mass. If your priest gets annoyed, DM me and I'll mail him glitter.

Statue of Our Lady of Mount Carmel Remains Untouched After Devastating Forest Fire in Colombia A recent forest fire destroyed nearly 500 acres of vegetation in North Santander in Colombia. Amid the fire's destruction, a completely intact statue of Our Lady of Mount Carmel was found. The statue was found in the Fontibón village in the municipality of Pamplona, Colombia. The images went viral on social networks. Local media outlet Correo Expreso said volunteers administering aid and donations found the statue. “It made quite an impression on us. We were going to the Fontibón village to deliver aid, and on the edge of the road was the little Virgin in perfect condition in the middle of what was the fire. I consider this a miracle,” one person said. The Mayor's Office of Pamplona shared a video showing the site of the fire and noted that the fire passed along the road without touching it. We are “next to the grotto of the Virgin of Carmel which became famous because incredibly, and I am not very given to these speculations, the fire passed from one side of the road, as you can see, towards the other hills, and don't ask me why, nowhere in the grotto, not even in the back, is there any damage," said Klaus Faber Mogollón, the mayor of Pamplona. "Faith moves mountains. We continue our work hand in hand with the Almighty who feeds our spirit and strengthens our hearts,” the mayor's office added. Mogollón called for environmental awareness and ended the video by crossing himself in front of the statue of Our Lady. “I hope that the faith we all have in our Creator serves for the good of the city of Pamplona, for the good of all of us, and for the good of humanity,” he concluded. So far, this environmental catastrophe hit eight Colombian departments. The North Santander has taken action to control the fire, which has been declared a public calamity. Our Lady of Mount Carmel, pray for us! Written by Harumi Sazuki bit.ly/4958gWS

During my journey as a Protestant, the visual of a crucifix often shocked me. In my mind, the “only good cross is an empty cross”. Why focus on His death, when the Resurrection is all that matters? I did not want to contemplate His weakness or suffering. Now as a Catholic, I often gaze upon a crucifix and meditate on His Passion. Christ endured horrific pain and suffering for me! My love for Jesus grows tremendously when I immerse myself in the depth of His sacrifice. How else can we come to truly appreciate that “there is no greater love than this: that a person would lay down his life for the sake of his friends”, without focusing on the sacrifice itself? Without the Cross, there would be no salvation, no Resurrection. Ignoring the reality of His sacrifice left me spiritually empty, like the empty cross, because I was not moved to action. Nothing was required on my end, no small sacrifices of penance or fasting to unite me to Christ because it was all about the comfort of His victory. Now I have learned there is something very profound in the power of the crucifix. “Oh, the new and ineffable mystery! The Judge was judged. He who absolves from sin was bound; He was mocked who once framed the world; He was stretched upon the cross who stretched out the heavens; He was fed with gall who gave the manna to be bread; He died who gives life. He was given up to the tomb who raises the dead." St. Alexander of Alexandria (ca. 250-327)
