Overcrowding remained a significant and recurring concern, increasingly affecting key aspects of prison life. IPMs noted that the growing complexity of the prison population has intensified these challenges.
Today we published our Independent Prison Monitoring (IPM) Annual reports for all 17 prisons in Scotland. IPMs carried out over 1,100 visits and dealt with nearly 1,700 prisoner requests for contact through their statutory weekly visits. Their findings are invaluable.
