This is what happens when we let AI into our homes—especially with kids. No guardrails. Real risks. Lives lost.
Take action before the White House and Congress strips states’ power to protect families:

This World Mental Health Day, let's talk about the impact of unsafe technology on the mental health of young people.
Our research found that kids are encountering harmful content + unwanted contact on Snapchat, and are becoming accustomed to it.

Survivors deserve better than platforms and products where their abuse can live forever.
We’re calling on @Apple to investigate CSAM across their ecosystem & work with child safety and privacy experts to build solutions that actually protect everyone.

Breaking: Today, Heat Initiative released a new analysis estimating that @Apple has earned roughly $150 million in revenue over 5 years from customers storing CSAM in iCloud across 3 countries.

"Meta's $17 billion settlement is a fence around a mile-deep hole at a playground. Fewer kids fall in on the way to the swings, but the hole is still there."

Advocates staged a demonstration at @Apple's World Wide Developers Conference to send outgoing CEO Tim Cook a direct message: Apple’s legacy is child abuse.
We demand that Apple detect and remove child sexual abuse images from iCloud & remove all Nudify tech in the App Store.

Meta’s new teen safety features miss the core issue raised by recent lawsuits.
It’s about product design: algorithms, infinite scroll, addictive features, and systems built to maximize engagement. Meta’s response is content controls.
Young people deserve better.

This. This and so many other things, but also this.
This is going to backfire. Hard. No parent is going to trust that their kids can’t get through your age gating. They will just push their kids to every other LLM.
Why take the risk ?
Same for schools. Why take the risk ? A few seniors in HS are 18 and decide it would be fun to show the hard core erotica they created to the 14 yr olds.
What could go wrong ?
“We don’t know if [the updates] will actually work and create an environment that is safe for kids."

Read our full statement below.

& yet 47% of 13–15 y/os say they saw unsafe content or unwanted messages in the past month?
Even worse... teens say they’ve grown “used to it.”

Wow. Reuters/@JeffHorwitz with the story: Instagram Teen Accounts are flawed, according to new research by academics and a former Meta engineer: "Features meant to prevent young users from surfacing self-harm-related content by blocking search terms were easily circumvented."
