Senegalese and African surfers came together to showcase the talent of African surfing.
The Surfing Engagement Program at the Dakar 2026 Youth Olympics brought incredible waves and inspiring performances to Ngor Island, the historic heart of Senegalese surfing.
Surfing came to the Dakar 2026 Youth Olympic Games in Senegal. 🇸🇳
Through the ISA’s Surfing Engagement Program, young surfers from across Africa are showcasing the sport on the waves of Dakar.
Surfing is one of 10 Engagement Sports at the Youth Olympic Games in Dakar 2026.
No competition was held so the ISA invited young surfers from 7 African nations to showcase the talent and development of surfing in Senegal, Africa and beyond.
The ISA took its athletes to the water organizing surf sessions on the Virage Beach in Almadies and off the island of Ngor, two well-known spots in Dakar.
The surfers were supported by legendary 2020 Olympian Michel Bourez from France (Tahiti) who was the ISA-designated Athlete Role Model.
The ISA surfing delegation had the honor to meet the IOC President, Kirsty Coventry on Sunday and to share their excitement, commitment and values of surfing in alignment with the Olympic Movement.
Team Germany confirmed for the 2026 ISA World Surfing Games, November 6–15.
The top-ranked men’s and women’s teams will each secure a slot for their nation at the LA28 Olympic Games.
