Among adults with #TreatmentResistantDepression, a single intranasal dose of mebufotenin benzoate was associated with greater reductions in depressive symptoms through day 29 and across follow-up vs a subperceptual low-dose comparator. Most adverse events were mild or moderate, and most participants receiving active treatment were deemed ready for discharge within 2 hours, indicating a shorter postdose monitoring period may be feasible in clinical practice. ja.ma/4ilnVag

🧵 Presented at #KidneyWk: Meta-analysis: Across randomized clinical trials involving patients with cardiovascular disease, #HeartFailure, #ChronicKidneyDisease, or #diabetes, sodium-glucose cotransporter 2 (#SGLT2) inhibitor use was associated with small increases in hemoglobin and hematocrit vs control. These findings support a consistent hematologic effect across disease settings, although the clinical significance remains uncertain. ja.ma/4sllrNF @ASNKidney

💬 Editorial by Kai-Uwe Eckardt, MD, and Mark Koury, MD: #SGLT2 inhibitors were developed for glycemic control but also consistently increase hemoglobin and hematocrit across patients with cardiovascular disease, heart failure, or chronic kidney disease, with or without diabetes. This additional effect may contribute to multimodal anemia management while accompanying the established cardiovascular and kidney benefits of this drug class. ja.ma/4ecSMF1 #KidneyWk @ASNKidney

📣 JAMA and the JAMA Network journals are issuing a call for papers on Women's Health. Last year, we launched @JAMAWomenHealth, an initiative that offers expertly curated research and insights from work published in JAMA and the JAMA Network. An important goal of JAMA+ Women's Health is to shift the conversation about women’s health beyond the “usual” categories of reproductive health, pregnancy, menopause, and certain cancers. To align with the 2027 International Women’s Day, JAMA and the JAMA Network journals will publish women’s health articles across the full spectrum of health care on March 8, 2027. ➡️ This call for papers will prioritize timely and novel research articles and opinion manuscripts. Manuscripts submitted by November 15, 2026, will have the best chance for consideration for simultaneous publication on International Women’s Day. 🔗 Read the full editorial: ja.ma/48b96Cq

#MedNews: #Testosterone use among women is rising, but does the evidence support it? A recent US FDA workshop brought new attention to the push for a testosterone product designed specifically for women. Experts largely agree that women need safe, evidence-based treatment options. The disagreement is over what testosterone can reliably do—and how much evidence the FDA needs for an approval. ja.ma/4BoJ38c

In patients with #ERBB2-low unresectable or metastatic #BreastCancer, trastuzumab rezetecan improved progression-free survival vs physician’s choice of chemotherapy. Consistent benefit was seen in both hormone receptor–positive and hormone receptor–negative disease, supporting this antibody-drug conjugate as a treatment option across subtypes after limited prior chemotherapy in the metastatic setting. 📌 Learn more: ja.ma/4kagsNN

🧵 Presented at #ESMO26: Among patients with low erythroblastic oncogene B 2 (ERBB2) advanced #BreastCancer, trastuzumab rezetecan improved progression-free survival vs physician’s choice of chemotherapy. Benefit was observed in both chemotherapy-naive patients and the overall population, supporting trastuzumab rezetecan as a potential treatment option in this setting. ja.ma/3Ub9qxU @myESMO
