BREAKING: Israeli president Herzog gives the mandate for forming a new government to Gadi Eisenkot
Former Gov. Larry Hogan: "It's a complete and total rebuke of President Trump and his policies. There's no one else. He said to vote as if I'm on the ballot and that's exactly what they did."
Maggie Haberman shares her reporting on what drove Trump's chief of staff change and what's happening in the Trump adminsitrataion right now.
It’s hard to overstate just how factionalized the West Wing is right now, filled with the tension, infighting and the "knives out” atmosphere of President Trump's first term. Our latest reporting tonight:
Maggie Haberman will join me at 9 p.m. ET to discuss our reporting on one of the biggest staff shakeups of President Trump's second term.
Trump, who initially appeared unfazed by the results of the Tuesday night midterms, has become angrier as he’s watched coverage of the historic losses, we're told. That sour mood has spread throughout the West Wing, which has become increasingly factionalized in recent days. cnn.com/2026/11/06/politics/…
Trump answers only a handful of questions after replacing his chief of staff. Shortly after he boards Marine One, a grinning Stephen Miller emerges and follows behind, alongside Marco Rubio and Natalie Harp.
Susie Wiles submitted her resignation last night. President Trump was angry with her this week following the GOP wipeout Tuesday night.
After they blamed his policies for high gas prices and rising costs, President Trump tells voters, "You only have yourselves to blame!"
Sen. Bill Cassidy on Ken Paxton: "To say Ken Paxton was flawed is an incredible understatement. And so I have no doubt that that just kind of spread all over the Republican brand in Texas...A fellow that had all of his ethical complaints, cheating on his wife, all these sorts of things, there's no way that does not hurt the Republican brand."
GOP Sen. Bill Cassidy says a War Powers Act could pass and that if Hegseth is impeached, "Well, I have to hear the testimony."
"There are people who I respect who feel that he's done a very poor job. And if he's the one that gave the president the guidance that would be out of the Iranian war in five weeks, that was an incredible misjudgment."
Republican Sen. Bill Cassidy: "If you look at the shellacking our party took, it's pretty clear that most voters don't think that we were there to serve them. They thought, once more, that the politicians wanted to keep power so much that they were willing to change the rules to make the people serve the politicians."
While he's vowing to fight it, there are concerns inside the Trump administration that Massie's push to impeach Hegseth will have enough votes to pass.
Which seems self-defeating for an event that the president presumably wants to have TV coverage.
