Copper is headed for a deficit of about 10% through 2035, and a new mine can take ~16 years to deliver. The copper already in India's retiring cables, motors and transformers can be recovered much faster.

First up: Zimbabwe. LOHUM is now the first Indian company mining lithium overseas, with a local lithium sulphate plant coming within 18 months. Refining in India completes the chain, creating value in both countries.

Copper is not scarce in the crust. The constraint is the clock. Average time from discovery to first production runs to about sixteen years, so decisions taken now land in the 2040s.

Roughly 784 million tonnes of copper have been mined across the whole of recorded history. Producing about the same again within three decades is now the requirement.
