Quiet just got 20% quieter
Introducing Matic Serene
We’ve reimagined our vacuum stack from the ground up to make Matic quieter than ever

Wow. The original Matic was already super quiet (so quiet you can run it while you sleep), so I can’t imagine what an even quieter version would feel like.
It’s been a few months now testing the @maticrobots vacuum cleaner
Before we had a Roborock (essentially a Roomba knockoff)
But the Roborock became kinda useless, it'd always get stuck in any type of cable, it'd always get stuck not being able to get on to the thick rug, so you'd have to prep the room every single time just to use it
Too much work so we just stopped using it
The Matic is, well, completely different. It's not flat or low, it's a chunky tall kinda cute looking cube shaped thing with 2 big wheels
And it's a different philosophy, it has cameras and tries to understand its environment, more like a modern robot or a self driving Tesla than a classic Roomba-type vacuum
That makes it just way way better, it doesn't get stuck in cables, it doesn't get stuck in rugs, it drives and turns around the room almost like a mini car
It's also way more silent than Roborock or Roomba-type vacuums, and measurably way more powerful in both vacuuming and mopping
They also respond very fast to feedback and improve things fast, like companies should be these days (instead of getting stuck in some hellish corporate support flow)
Another thing, I don't trust consumer devices connected to the internet (and nor should you) so of course I asked to Claude to analyze if it was phoning home (remember the other vacuums who upload your house plan to China, that was true). Claude was conclusive, Matic never phoned home anything, excellent
Maybe the best part is, it just looks cute and you wanna anthropomorphize it, and they include 2 googly eye stickers so it becomes even more like a dog/cat/pet
@mehul made a great thing!
Got a @maticrobots robot vacuum from @mehul via @Karl_William hand delivered
I bought a Roborock before and we don't even use it anymore, it keeps getting stuck in cables, can't go on any rug, and is just generally useless, I think it's just the circular low-rise Roomba-like design is fundamentally flawed
Matic is interesting cause it actually looks like a vacuum cleaner just with the handle and wand (?) removed so should get a better result
We're still traveling so can't test it but I will when we get home! 😊
everything we do is deliberate... below is our upgrade logic.

Hi Chris, I appreciate the feedback. The logic is pretty simple: the longer someone has had their robot, the more wear and tear it has, and the more work it takes for us to bring it up to Serene performance — reducing noise while keeping cleaning efficacy exactly the same. This is atoms and any HW that's used for more than year will require far more rigorous testing and upgrade than HW that is a month old.
Candidly, Wwe did consider offering one flat upgrade price, but it just wasn’t feasible. As we’ve mentioned before, Matic may look the same on the outside, but internally we’ve made many changes over time to improve quality and reliability. On older robots, bringing them up to Serene performance can mean replacing the entire vacuum stack along with many other components affected by wear.
Customers who’ve had their Matic serviced before have probably seen this firsthand. We often upgrade parts they didn’t even ask about, and for many early adopters we did that at no charge when we were addressing reliability issues.
That’s really the reason the upgrade cost varies with the age of the robot.
Matic Serene is the outcome of customer obsession.
it wasn’t on the roadmap. no product brief. no business case.
our hardware engineers just kept asking: can we make Matic even quieter without sacrificing cleaning performance?
That obsession became a robot that’s 20% quieter.
Great ideas come from anywhere when the whole company cares about the customer.
Proud of this team. 🤍
"I said Matic, clean the kitchen and it just came and cleaned it!"

For the first time ever, someone cleaned their home using only their mind
Thank you @DeadManRolln and @neuralink for making this possible 🙏
My wife and I first video edit ever lol
@maticrobots breaking vacuum history being the first robot vacuum in the world to be controlled, purely with thoughts!
I am so stoked and honored they allowed me the chance to try this out!

Matic is doing useful stuff so that I have more free time working on FSD.

For those of you who are familiar with Matic the robot vacuum. I was able to speak to the matic guys at the X takeover and inquired on the possibilities of me controlling it with my link. Fast forward to today after a successful meeting. I am getting the chance to do just that!
