“I love my neighbors by showing up. Getting to know them makes the Village not just a place to live, but a home. It makes it a community where we all belong.” — Lynn, MLF Volunteer
For Lynn, volunteering with Mobile Loaves & Fishes is about more than serving meals. It’s about showing up, building relationships and getting to know our neighbors.
Since 2016, Lynn has served alongside our neighbors in a variety of ways, and her story is a beautiful reminder that community is built through the simple, meaningful act of being present with one another.
Watch as Lynn shares why she shows up for her neighbors and see how relationships are at the heart of everything we do at Mobile Loaves & Fishes.

It takes a community to build a community!
Recently, team members from Mobile Loaves & Fishes, @wellsfargo and @icon3dtech came together to help turn 3D-printed houses into homes at our Community First! Village Burleson property. These homes will one day welcome our formerly homeless neighbors as they begin a new chapter rooted in community, connection and belonging.
We’re grateful for partners who share in our vision and show what it looks like to love our neighbors through a lifestyle of service!
It was such a joyful occasion joining together on Monday as we celebrated the opening of our new Neighbor Services Building in Community First! Village — named in honor of Glimmer Austin!
We are so grateful for our longtime partner and friends at Glimmer Austin for their continued commitment and support as we serve our city's most vulnerable neighbors. With on-site partners from organizations across Austin, our Neighbor Services Building is designed to provide a welcoming gathering place where Community First! Village neighbors can connect, build relationships and access valuable services that assist in their restorative journeys.
Thank you, Glimmer Austin, for helping to strengthen our community and create more opportunities for our neighbors to thrive!

On this episode of the Gospel Con Carne podcast, Alan sits down with our neighbor and friend, John, also known around the Village as Mighty Mouse!
From working carnival rides across Texas and beyond to earning his unforgettable nickname, John has lived a life full of adventure, stories and resilience.
John spent 26 years experiencing homelessness in Austin, including a number of years camping under a bridge and building community with other individuals who were living on the streets. Along the way, John says he found purpose in serving others, volunteering with a local street ministry and eventually beginning his work at The Charlie Center, where he continues to pour into the lives of others who are experiencing homelessness today.
In 2023, after more than two decades on the streets, John moved into Community First! Village. While adjusting to living in his new home took some time, he's grateful for the journey, the people who helped him along the way, and also how having a place to call home has changed his outlook on life.

On this special episode of the Gospel Con Carne podcast, Alan sits down with Mobile Loaves & Fishes' new President, Tim Allen!
Tim’s journey to MLF has been anything but ordinary. From growing up in Los Angeles and joining his parents as they served people experiencing homelessness on Skid Row, to a career in business, entrepreneurship, ministry and nonprofit leadership, Tim’s story has been shaped by a desire to use his gifts to serve others.
In this episode, Tim shares about his childhood, his faith, his family, his professional journey and the experiences that helped shape his understanding of what it means to live a life of service. He also reflects on the moments that eventually led him to Austin and, ultimately, to Mobile Loaves & Fishes.
Join us for a special conversation about the winding road that brought Tim to MLF and the experiences that prepared him to help lead our mission of empowering the community around us into a lifestyle of service with the homeless.
