On October 21st, NYGC, along with @Columbia, hosted its inaugural AI x Biology Summit, bringing together leading scientists and innovators to explore how AI is transforming biological discovery.
Thank you to our incredible speakers, generous sponsors, and all who joined us!
Congratulations to NYGC CEO & Scientific Director Bing Ren, PhD, elected to the @theNAMedicine! His pioneering work in epigenomics has transformed our understanding of how genome organization and gene regulation shape cellular function and disease. nygenome.org/news-events/new…

Felt crazy to learn today that there's a world class science research institution, New York City's version of MIT/Harvard's @broadinstitute right between Tribeca & Soho, called the New York Genome Center @nygenome.
I have walked by it a million times and never noticed. I think many in NYC, including in Soho and Tribeca have no idea this institution exists. I didn't until I met the awesome @nevillesanjana, both a PI & a founder, and he very kindly offered to show me around & introduce me to his work.
It has world class PIs pushing the bounds of cancer, gene editing, neuro research all a stone's throw from all the tech companies Soho and basically across the street from @AnthropicAI's NY offices.
The faculty comes from all of NYC's top institutions, @nyuniversity, @Columbia, @WeillCornell, etc. and it spins out amazing companies much like the Broad. As someone who lives in NYC, I want us to lead across the board and visiting the New York Genome Center energized me so much...literally felt like finding a treasure in my backyard.
As biology & science increasingly become an area where we build very cool companies, enabled by AI, I am optimistic that places like the New York Genome Center & @BillAckman's new UWS institution will help NYC become a leader in new biotech company formation, especially with more AI-driven bio companies like @Immunaitech, @OwkinScience, @biohub NYC, etc. built here.
Would be curious to find ways to elevate the institution into something all New Yorkers know about and can be proud of...much like Broad & Boston.

The next generation of cancer research models has arrived. An international consortium led by CSHL and @NorthwellHealth has developed more than 150 organoid models representing actual patient tumors seen in pancreatic, breast, endometrial, colorectal, bladder, ovarian, head and neck, and lung cancers.
These powerful new tools are already being used in state-of-the-art cancer research, enabling scientists to test potential treatments and anticipate patients’ therapeutic response.
Read how CSHL's Tuveson Lab helped lead the international team behind groundbreaking cancer models that could accelerate the discovery of more effective treatments.
