Based on verification of images, reports and comparative investigative analysis by the International Centre for Human Rights, to date approximately 43,000 people have been killed, 350,000 injured, 20,000 arrested and await possible execution. “Taken together, ICHR believes that this body of evidence, methods, and data presents a clear picture of a systematic and organized campaign of repression and mass killing; one that may silence the streets in the short term, but will not resolve the underlying crisis. Silence by the international community in the face of such violent repression and crimes against humanity will only enable the repetition and escalation of these atrocities.” #IranMassacre Full article here: humanrightsintl.com/2026/01/…

Tomorrow morning I will be on @bbc5live with @GregoryPorter who will have no idea what he means to me. His power and control at the Polar Music Prize ceremony in Stockholm 2017 honouring Sting ranks this as of one of the greatest performances of all time. youtu.be/lSzICmwmRsA?is=Y0hb…

There's a grim contrast here. Hungary is opening the archives of a dictatorship that once encouraged citizens to inform on one another. Meanwhile, Iranian dissidents in Britain are reportedly being threatened for speaking out against a dictatorship that still exists. Nobody should have to escape an authoritarian regime only to discover that its intimidation has followed them to Britain. Freedom of speech means very little if we cannot protect the people brave enough to exercise it.

This week Hungary’s new government revealed the names of tens of thousands of state informants from the communist era in a move to confront the past and rebuild public trust. Also this week, the regime in Iran released their latest “kill list” of freedom activists in the West who deserve to die apparently for highlighting human rights abuses and crimes against humanity, asking other Iranians “to submit personal details about other ‘traitors’ they know.”
This Iranian regime 'kill list' targeting brave Iranian freedom activists in the UK is horrendous. It underlines the need for us to take a zero tolerance approach to all aspects of the regime's threat to our democracy, people and communities. metro.co.uk/2026/11/01/iran-… @MetroUK

Amid the bomb threats and flight diversions this morning, a statement from Aer Lingus confirmed that flight EI402 from Dublin to Rome "diverted to Normandy this morning as a security precaution." How interesting that Iran’s Islamic regime would target Irish carriers.

Clear case of transnational repression: the Islamic Republic using physical or digital means to threaten, harass, silence, or coerce people living beyond its borders.
US Green Card holder, Mehrangiz Rastin, has been arrested in Iran for joining a demo against the regime in Arizona! 1/2 @meforum

Shocking… This is Taraneh Alidoosti. The actress who represented Iranian cinema to the world, the star of the film that won the Oscar. What did she do? She posted one photo without the hijab during Woman Life Freedom uprising in 2022 to show her solidarity with the People of Iran . That is all. She said no to executions, no to the crackdown. That same week they came to her home and took her to Evin prison. When she was released, she was no longer the same Taraneh. Doctors diagnosed her with a rare illness that made her skin fall off and ravaged her body. She is still under treatment. They say it was caused by drug interaction. Which drugs? What did they give her in that prison? No one answers. Today this photo is going viral across Iran because people want to see the price of one photo without hijab. To the regime it was just a photo. To us, Taraneh is a woman who gave up everything: her career, her cinema, her health. And even now, in silence, mourning her father, she has not bowed. Taraneh, you did not just remove the hijab. You tore off their mask. We are your voice.

There has been a "no war, no deal" dynamic in U.S.-Iran relations for much of the last four decades. It's the norm. What's different since 2026, however, is the unprecedented naval blockade and the marrying of the economic and military pressure. The reality is there is no happy ending with a neat diplomatic solution to this conflict. It will only end once the Iranian regime ends. And hastening that end is in the U.S. national security interest.
🚨CIA Director John Ratcliffe is advising Trump to maintain the "no war, no deal" status quo and allow the economic pressure campaign to continue, sources said 🚨Ratcliffe told Trump that prolonged economic pain will induce Iran to make more concessions — or create enough instability inside the country that citizens revolt

Whilst this documentary fell short of telling the full story, it finally gave the wider world a glimpse of the horrors of Iran’s 8th and 9th January 2026 massacre. No one hour documentary could ever convey the scale of the atrocities, the lives stolen, the families shattered or the brutality that continues today all at the hands of the Islamic Republic Regime. What was shown barely scratches the surface of what the Iranian people have endured. But it is a small, significant step towards exposing the full extent of these crimes. The Iranian people deserve more than fleeting outrage. Their suffering must not be forgotten, and those responsible must not be allowed to escape justice.

Truly remarkable 1 hour @BBCPanorama documentary last night. What stood out very plainly was the sheer evil of this regime. The pure, unadulterated cruelty of the massacre in January after an order by the Supreme leader. It records how it unexpected it was. We’ve seen the depths of what this regime is capable of, but never like this. One person says that what transpired in those two days “will be talked about for 200 years”. It also captures the lies the regime spewed after. The very next day the Supreme leader declaring that Israeli and American insurgents “killed peaceful protesters - sometimes in deeply inhuman ways” - showed gaslighting on another level. This is what was needed to be seen and what the world was prevented from being shown by the 3 month regime-imposed internet blackout. People know now. Watch for yourself on catch up and understand what our fellow human beings in Iran have been up against for the last 47 years. bbc.co.uk/iplayer/episode/m0…
Important doc film on Iran protests in January that led to massacres (my pinned tweet says 43,000 but many of the 350,000 injured now confirmed dead). @BBCOne at 8pm. I’ve been critical of British journalists reporting from inside Iran but this one focusses on those who got out. Must watch TV tonight bbc.co.uk/news/articles/c3qj…

The GOP should have a zero tolerance policy for this Islamic pandering. MEK is an Islamic terrorist organization. Yet here we have Mike Pompeo @SecPompeo and @Mike_Pence doing their bidding. Has Trump seen this? I know how much he hates both of these men, and John Bolton.
One of the most disturbing and under talked about stories right now in the United States is the fact that People's Mojahedin Organization of Iran (PMOI), also known as Mojahedin-e-Khalq (MEK) MEK is passing out money to GOP operatives and lobbyists to influence the outcome of the Iranian people led regime change in Iran. MEK is being pushed as an alternative to the Islamic regime in Iran, when in reality they are the same thing, dressed up in colorful clothing. MEK was responsible for the death of U.S. military officers and contractors in Iran between 1973 and 1976. MEK is a terrorist, Marxist and Islamist cult that is rejected inside Iran. It is critical to note they murdered American soldiers, celebrated the 9/11 Islamic terrorist attacks on New York City, and are longtime allies of the PLO Islamic terrorist organization, among having involvement in other atrocities. Until a decade ago, MEK was designated as a terrorist group in the US and Canada. Their terror designation was removed by Hillary Clinton @HillaryClinton under the Presidency of Barack Hussein Obama @BarackObama, who enabled and funded the Iranian regime, paving the way for the disastrous Iran Nuclear Deal. On May 8, 2018, President Donald Trump announced the United States' withdrawal from the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA), otherwise known as the Iran nuclear deal. Obama’s policies on Iran resulting in the rise of Iranian backed Islamic terror, and the death of many US soldiers. I’ll be reporting on this more. If you are a conservative or GOP lobbyist and you are taking money to promote Islamic terrorism and further the oppression of the Iranian people, I am going to expose you and publicly humiliate you. I will also report you to the @StateDept and @FBI. If you have information about any GOP officials who are taking money from MEK to spread their terrorist propaganda, please contact the Loomered Tip Line. loomered.com/tip-line/

I urge you all to watch this @UN report on the crimes against humanity happening inside Iran. The content is deeply serious. The recommendation as to what action to take however is a ludicrous joke. The horrendous suffering of the people of Iran has been inflicted on them by the regime and the regime alone. To add America and Israel as deliberate and proportionate contributors to this suffering is beyond a false equivalency. It is propaganda. The people of Iran never asked for war. They asked for the machinery of repression, used to massacre them whenever they rose up to protest in their millions, to be neutralised. The closing words here - said as if they’ve never been said before - that “hostilities must end through diplomacy and human rights at the heart of any agreement” are as meaningless as they are maddening. “Diplomacy” hasn’t worked with this regime for 47 years. Their behaviour has not altered, despite sanctions, even marginally. After all that has been reported, expecting this regime to change is plain idiocy. Millions will see this speech as the UN intending to stand in the way of democracy ever taking place in Iran. When the people rise up again - which we hear is imminent - it looks like the United Nations will regrettably side with the regime again. As they always have. What chance do the people of Iran have when global institutions designed to protect oppressed populations are failing them so miserably?

Absolutely spot on, Omid. The UN documents horrific crimes against humanity, yet somehow manages to shift responsibility towards America and Israel, as though they are equally responsible for the suffering inflicted on Iranians by the Islamic Republic. What an extraordinary false equivalence. And the recommendation that “hostilities must end through diplomacy” is almost insulting. What about the regime’s ongoing hostilities against its OWN people? The arrests, torture, executions and massacres? For 47 years, Iranians have heard the same empty diplomatic rhetoric while their suffering continues. The Islamic Republic must be held accountable for its own crimes, not handed another opportunity to evade responsibility. The Iranian people need protection, justice and freedom, not another UN report that documents their suffering while offering the same failed solutions.
