This is the exact thing we’ve been warning about for years… AI agents with unrestrained access to your bank account and protected information. When consumer AI agents are accessing YOUR bank account or using YOUR credit card, they must be subject to fiduciary-like duties of care. We need to pass my AI AGENTS Act to get some basic guardrails in place.
SCOOP: Major U.S. banks are detecting unauthorized third-party AI agents inside customer accounts, including some attempting to take actions that appear to be independent of user instructions, sources told Axios.
The findings have alarmed banking executives, who are racing to restrict access to their systems as AI moves at a velocity faster than financial institutions can respond, multiple industry and bank executives told Axios.
Several banks are now preparing for worst-case and even “day after” scenarios, including how to rapidly secure or restore customer accounts if things go wrong, the people said.
Several bank executives told Axios they're struggling to distinguish between human users and AI agents. One executive said banks also struggle to determine whether agents are authorized by customers or potentially operating without their permission, more akin to rogue agent behavior.

Starlink has become critical military infrastructure. But it remains under the control of Elon Musk, a billionaire who can decide who gets access and on what terms.
That's far too much power for one private company (& CEO) to wield.

Great chart from Slok. Everybody knows that a very small % off companies are consuming the lion's share of token consumption
What's interesting is that of those top 1% of spenders, they're overwhelmingly VC-backed companies. May have implications if VC-funding starts to slow.

Meta is essentially saying they will control not only their own users' IP to make and maintain AI products, but also any IP a Meta user "makes available."
This should raise alarm to all regulators about Big Tech's abuse-of-dominance tactics using AI development as a pretext.

When egg prices skyrocketed, major egg companies blamed bird flu, and most economists and the media went along with it.
Farm Action's President Angela Huffman didn't buy it.
"We said we should look at this, because we've seen this before, and there might be something here."
Once we looked, the math didn't add up. The egg-laying flock shrank only modestly, but prices jumped 138%.
In January 2023, Farm Action called on federal enforcers to find the real culprit behind the price spike.
Critics called it a conspiracy theory.
Now the DOJ and 17 states allege three of the biggest egg companies coordinated for nearly three years to drive prices up.
When a few giant corporations control a market, families at the grocery store and farmers on the ground pay the price.
