“The distilled model wasn’t just as good as the model+harness, it was noticeably better.”
Harnesses are evolving as models absorb general scaffolding. They still handle what’s specific to your tools, data, users, and environment.

Tomorrow on What’s Happening in Software Architecture I am trying something a bit different, and I could genuinely use your brains.
For the past weeks I have been building a system that answers one question: when coding agents are writing most of your code, how do you know the architecture is still the one you designed?
It collects a handful of signals, turns them into a score you can reproduce, and then lets an agent explain what that number actually means.
Some of it worked better than I expected but some of it failed in ways that taught me far more than the successes did, and I am going to show you both.
This is an experiment, so the session will only be as good as the conversation around it. Bring your scepticism, bring the war story this reminds you of, and tell me which signals you would have measured instead of mine. I will be reading the chat the whole way through.
See you tomorrow 🙂 Register now: oreilly.com/live-events/what…
