Outland Trophy

BIG MAN GOLD 😤

Happy Birthday to the late Jim Weatherall, out of Graham, Oklahoma ( population 158) & @OU_Football 6’4 245; Jim Weatherall built a legendary status at @OU_Football as one of the program’s greatest linemen and its very first national individual award winner. Playing under legendary coach Bud Wilkinson from 1948 to 1951, Weatherall’s dominance on both sides of the ball anchored the early years of the Sooner’s modern football dynasty—In 1951, Weatherall became the first player in @OU_Football history to win the @outlandtrophy awarded annually to the nation’s outstanding interior lineman—He earned consensus All American honors in 1950 and followed it up as a unanimous choice in 1951, making another programmatic first for an underclassman at the time—He was a vital piece of the 1950 squad that captured @OU_Football first-ever consensus national championship—Over his four-year letterman career, the Sooners went 39-4. He helped drive a historic 31-game winning streak, clearing massive lanes for legendary backs like @HeismanTrophy winner Billy Vessels—He was inducted into the @cfbhall in 1992, as well as the Oklahoma Sports Hall of Fame in 2001; 10-26-1929 to 8-2-1992 ( aged 62) #BoomerSooner🅾️
