๐ A sustainable and prosperous Baltic Sea region requires innovation, collaboration and a responsible approach to the future.
The Polish Presidency of the Council of the Baltic Sea States is advancing this priority across several key areas:
๐ข Green shipping corridors:
These initiatives support more sustainable maritime transport. The Polish Presidency promotes the exchange of experience and best practice across the Baltic Sea region, with the aim of reducing the environmental impact of maritime transport while enhancing the efficiency and safety of shipping.
๐ Maritime data and digital cooperation:
Building on the work of the Estonian Presidency, Poland is further strengthening cooperation on the collection and exchange of maritime data, while raising awareness of projects and initiatives being implemented across the Baltic Sea region.
โ Unexploded ordnance and dumped munitions:
Another key priority for the Polish Presidency is addressing the issue of unexploded ordnance and dumped munitions in the Baltic Sea, which pose risks to safety, the environment and the maritime economy. Poland is fostering dialogue on risk assessment, mapping and coordinated approaches to managing this challenge.

The shared security of the region requires not only national procedures, but also cooperation across borders. ๐
Wildfires, floods, humanitarian crises, and the impacts of climate change demonstrate that threats in the Baltic Sea region require a common response.
This is why the Civil Protection Network operates within the Council of the Baltic Sea States (@CBSSsecretariat) โ a platform for cooperation among experts and institutions responsible for the safety and security of people across the region. ๐ค
Since 2002, the network has supported the exchange of expertise, joint risk assessment, the development of transnational projects, and the strengthening of response capabilities.
It provides a space where experts from across the Baltic Sea region come together to build a shared culture of safety and security โ from prevention and preparedness, through response, to recovery after crises. ๐ก๏ธ
