๐ Strengthening Partnerships for Equitable Land Governance in Migration-Affected Communities
UCOBAC team together with Kathrin Zimmermann the country director of AWO International e.V. in Ugandaย held a courtesy meeting with Mr Solomon Osakan, the principal settlement commandant representing the Commissioner in charge for Refugees at the Office of the Prime Minister.
The meeting aimed to majorly introduce theย Effective and Equitable Land Governance for Migration-Affected Communities in Uganda (EELAG)ย project and the work the two organizations are doing in migration and explore opportunities for collaboration.
Recognising OPM's critical role in coordinating Uganda's refugee response, the engagement reaffirmed the importance of multi-stakeholder collaboration in promoting inclusive land governance, resilient livelihoods, peaceful coexistence and self-reliance among migration-affected communities.
Uganda Community Based Association for Women and Children Welfare (UCOBAC) is implementing theย ย EELAGย projectย in consortium with @AFARD_UG , @RICEWestNile and Community Volunteer Initiative for Development (COVOID) supported byย AWO Internationalย withย funding from the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ).

๐ซ Teaching in refugee settlements brings emotional demands and challenges, including overcrowded classrooms.
Through the CORE Program (Coaching, Observing, Reflecting, and Engaging) under the INSPIRE Project, RICE West Nile supports teacher wellbeing and more empathetic classrooms in Imvepi Settlement.
๐ง After five Teacher Wellbeing sessions and six Social Emotional Learning (SEL) modules, he reflects:
๐ฃ๏ธ โThe training changed me from emotional reactivity to emotional intelligence. I learned to respond with intention and engage with empathy.โ
๐ฑ When teachers are supported, the whole school benefits. He calls for CORE to reach more schools across Imvepi Settlement.
