I've been struggling to find words all day, in between massive waves of sadness. @JohnNosta was an incredible human, who through his multitudes of success never let it get to his head. He never stopped asking hard questions, and had a grace to him which will never be forgotten.
He was a strategic intellectual who looked at AI in the purest form, the human impact and what it means for our future. His important views, are going to be sorely missed not only by the greater AI Community, the AI Jam Community, the greater business world, the agency world, and many others. He was a true gentleman and titan. And the news of his passing has hit many of us extremely hard, my thoughts are of course with his family, and all of those whom he loved, and those whom he spent time with on space, but one person stands out, and thats @parisofprairie, who was extremely close to John, and who is responsible for introducing many of us on X to him. I hope you know we are all here for you. ♥️
I am going to miss the random messages that brought a smile to my face, or the quick notes for feedback on ideas he was testing. I'm going to miss the insight, and the brilliantly poetic articulation of cognition and AI. I'm going to miss John, dearly.

In 1986 a guy got kicked out of every casino in Vegas for counting cards. So he flew to Hong Kong with $180,000 and started betting on horses instead.
He walked away with almost $900 million.
It was Bill Benter.
He realized horse racing was just another counting problem same math, more moving parts.
He and a partner built a computer model that estimated the true odds of each horse. If his numbers showed an edge, he bet. If not, he skipped it.
That’s the whole trick:
Expected value.
EV = p · b − (1 − p)
Only bet when the probability of winning × the potential payout is greater than the chance of losing.
What’s even crazier is that Benter once gave a 45-minute lecture explaining the math behind his system.
That recording was never supposed to become public.
And almost nobody knows it exists.
This is the lecture that professional bettors and hedge fund analysts studied.

Tesla self-driving gives mobility to seniors
Larry is 98 years old, and he bought a Tesla Model Y because of Full Self-Driving.
His first car was a 1931 Ford Model A. After 80 years behind the wheel, he says driving with Tesla FSD feels more relaxing. He even took his Model Y on a road trip to Colorado and called the drive “a breeze.”
For older drivers, that extra help can take some of the stress out of a busy drive across town. It can also make it easier to say yes to a weekend with the grandkids.
I love that Tesla is building technology that can help people stay independent as they get older. Being able to tell your family “I’ll come see you this weekend” and make the trip on your own schedule means a lot. ♥️

It is with a heavy heart that I share the loss of a great mind and even greater friend, @JohnNosta.
I, many of us, have known John for the better part of 15-20 years. He was one of the brightest, most provocative, and at times, controversial voices in the world of disruptive tech and science. He was a leading advisor to companies all around the world and a compelling keynote speaker.
His passing came as a shock to all of us. It's a reminder of just how precious life is, how precious people are, and how precious the gift of time and being present in it is to ourselves and each other.
John, Dave Wright, and I were recently on @DisrupTVShow with @rwang0 and @ValaAfshar. Though we were on different segments, he joined our part to share his thoughts on the book ∞.
