📢 😊 Upcoming Webinar | Artificial Intelligence in Kidney Transplantation I am incredibly honored to be invited by the Thai Transplantation Society and the Organizing Committee of the 20th Congress of the Asian Society of Transplantation (CAST 2027) to speak at their upcoming webinar this Friday!  🎤 Topic: Artificial Intelligence in Kidney Transplantation: From Predictive Models to Precision Medicine and Agentic AI  During our session, we will explore how artificial intelligence is actively transforming kidney transplantation. Our discussion will focus on: 🔹 Predictive Analytics: Enhancing personalized risk assessment and outcomes prediction to improve patient care trajectories 🔹 Precision Medicine: Leveraging multimodal data to support highly individualized transplant care 🔹 Agentic AI: The emerging role of clinical AI agents and integrated workflows in safely assisting transplant teams I look forward to connecting with colleagues across Asia and globally to discuss the opportunities, clinical challenges, and the future of responsible AI integration into transplant care. Event Details: 📅 Date: Friday, October 16, 2026 ⏰ Time: 12:00 PM Bangkok (GMT+7) | 1:00 AM US Central 💻 Platform: Zoom Webinar (Free Registration)  🔗 Register by October 15: docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1F… My sincere thanks to Professor Yingyos Avihingsanon (President of the Thai Transplantation Society and Chairman of the Organizing Committee) and Professor Adis Tasanarong (Secretary General of CAST) for this very kind invitation and for hosting this important conversation.  Please join us and share this with any colleagues interested in the intersection of AI, nephrology, and transplantation! I've seen similar features by #electronmicroscopy in the graft of an Alport patient 2 weeks post-transplantation (see images). The electron-dense deposits are fairly sparse but resemble MIDD in distribution. @JZRenalPath

This photomicrograph shows an artery with intimal edema and inflammation in a renal biopsy from a 56 year old male with renal failure and nephrotic-range proteinuria. The patient’s serologic work-up revealed evidence of an HCV infection and a positive rheumatoid factor. While the intima is inflamed and edematous, the media is relatively intact without inflammation or necrosis. Intimal arteritis is a pattern of vascular inflammation most commonly encountered in the transplant setting where it represents a rejection process. In the native kidney, this finding is most commonly seen in cryoglobulinemic vasculitis (which was the case for this patient). The differential diagnosis would include other forms of vasculitis such as ANCA-associated disease.  #TeachingPoints #kidneypath #renal #pathology

Well developed example of medullary angiitis (pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/2307…) in a case of MPO-ANCA associated GN. Neutrophils and hemorrhage in the medulla. Also plenty of active crescents in this case. #renalpath #pathwitter #nephrology

A PAS section shows an atheroembolus occluding an artery (arrow) with an adjacent ischemic appearing glomerulus. Atheroemboli appear as slit-like spaces in sections cut from formalin fixed paraffin-embedded sections due to the fact that the cholesterol crystals are dissolved by the lipid solvents during processing. However, as demonstrated here, the crystals can be visualized by their birefringence under polarized light in the cryosections for immunofluorescence evaluation. Atheroembolization is often preceded by in an invasive vascular procedure such as coronary artery bypass or aortic aneurysm repair though they can also be precipitated by trauma and are often idiopathic. Systemic manifestations that sometimes accompany atheroembolic disease including transient eosinophilia, skin lesions (livedo reticularis), and hypocomplementemia.  #TeachingPoints #kidneypath #renal #pathology

Additional info: 2+ IgG as in pic. negative IgA, IgM, C1q. Positive anti-DNase B 665 U/ml (normal <200). Final Dx: Acute poststreptoccoccal GN. Arteritis is highly unusual; other causes of vasculitis should be excluded.
