Unreal Half Dome rescue story from @AshleyHarrell3, this is one of those paragraphs that restores your faith in humanity:
“That’s when David Morgenstern arrived on the scene. An officer in the Air Force Reserve, Morgenstern has military, firefighting and rock climbing experience, and was on his way down Sub Dome with family when another hiker caught up to him and informed him of the situation. He directed his family to continue down to safety, then immediately turned around and hiked back up to help.”

The Monterey Bay Aquarium is opening its first new exhibit since 2022 on Nov. 7, featuring African penguins, seahorses, garden eels and an assortment of colorful fish.
Kids can grab onto giant seagrass replicas, just like the seahorses in the nearby habitat. It’s one of several interactive activities designed to help young visitors engage with marine life.
“Our whole exhibit is really geared towards early learners and our youngest visitors,” Emily Saich, the aquarium’s vice president of exhibitions, told SFGATE. “We know they love to move. That’s just an intuitive thing for them to do.”

Hundreds of shoppers lined up Friday morning for the grand opening of Vallejo’s new Costco, a project 15 years in the making. For some, the wait began Wednesday night, when a separate line started forming for those hoping to get their hands on rare bourbons and whiskeys.
Located on Admiral Callahan Lane, less than a mile from the city’s original Costco, the new warehouse is about 20,000 square feet larger, with twice as many gas pumps and more parking spots.
The store also has a pharmacy, optical department, hearing aid center, tire center and food court.
