To everyone who’s shared your caregiving story with me this month, in comments, DMs, and conversations: thank you. This work only matters because it’s real. Because it’s happening in households everywhere, every day. Not just on a slide.

Somewhere a parent just remembered, mid-meeting, that today was picture day and nobody's wearing the right shirt. That's the mental load in one sentence. We built @ohaidotai for that exact moment.

People sometimes ask why I'd start another company in this space after @CareDotCom. Honest answer: I only solved half the problem the first time. Finding care was step one. Managing everything care requires, every day, is the part I came back for.

Twenty years ago, I was piecing together childcare on my own with no playbook. Today, I’m surrounded by a team working on that same problem with tools I couldn’t have imagined back then. Twenty years later, I’m still learning. Grateful doesn’t quite cover it.

Every founder in this space should be asking the same question: are we building tools that reduce the caregiving burden, or just tools that help people manage it slightly better? Those are very different bars.

The working title for the report was a lot less catchy than "Care Is Infrastructure." Sometimes the simplest framing takes the longest to find. Sharing the full piece with you very soon.

84.6 million. That's roughly how many family caregivers we project in the U.S. by 2035. Every one of them doing a second, unpaid, invisible job on top of everything else.

Someone asked what I'd tell my 28-year-old self starting @CareDotCom. Probably: the mission is right, trust it, and don't wait for permission to build the thing only you can see clearly yet.

When I took @CareDotCom public in 2014, I was one of the few women leading a venture-backed tech IPO. What I learned: eventually, the market catches up to what families have always known. Care work is real work. Full stop.

CEOs get chiefs of staff. At home, the person holding everything together gets an endless list of things to remember, and the expectation that nothing gets dropped. I’d like to change that math.

Been saying for months that the tools families use to manage their lives haven't caught up to how complicated those lives actually are. @ohaidotai's team has been rebuilding ours from the ground up. Can't wait to show you what's next 👀

AI is finally advanced enough to take on real coordination work, not just chat. The opportunity in front of this industry isn't a better to-do list. It's giving caregivers back hours of their week, at scale.

By 2035, the cost of unpaid caregiving is projected to grow 7.5% a year. The number of available caregivers? About 3%. That gap doesn't close on its own, it has to be built for. #CareIsInfrastructure

Nothing like running a 10-year economic projection three times because the number felt too big to be right. We checked the model. Then we checked it again. It wasn’t wrong. Full report coming soon.

My kids used to roll their eyes when I brought work stories home. Now my daughter asks sharp questions about Ohai's product roadmap. Watching that shift has been one of the best parts of this chapter.

New analysis: the economic burden of unpaid caregiving in the U.S. is on track to hit $3.3 trillion by 2035, more than double where it stood in 2025. The caregiver base isn't growing anywhere near that fast. #CareIsInfrastructure

The invisible labor isn't the big dramatic stuff. It's a hundred tiny things held in one person's head, all the time, with no off switch. That's what we built O to help carry.

So grateful for advocates like @aijenpoo and the @domesticworkers, who've spent decades making the case that caregiving is essential infrastructure, long before the data caught up to what they already knew.

With @MarkGannott, I’ve been modeling where the caregiving economy is headed by 2035 using AARP & Census data. The numbers surprised us. What they mean for families, businesses & the future of care may surprise you too. Report coming soon.
