The dairy industry has tried to blame wild birds for spreading bird flu between their facilities. It turns out they are the ones spreading it, by shipping cows to feedlots and slaughterhouses.
“Cattle movement consistently explained interstate viral spread more strongly than geographic proximity” — Discussion, p. 18 “we found no evidence that wild birds contributed to the geographic spread of B3.13 among dairy cattle.” — Discussion, p. 18 “each week of delay in policy implementation was associated with an additional median 11–12 infected counties per week” — Counterfactual simulations, PDF p. 16 “Real-time effluent or wastewater monitoring could reduce detection times further still, potentially to days rather than weeks or months.” — Discussion, p. 20.

💢 BREAKING: A sand dune has collapsed onto tents sheltering two Palestinian families in Gaza following heavy rainfall. The bodies of two children have already been brought to Nasser Hospital. Israel and the @BoardOfPeace continue to block the entry of heavy machinery needed to rescue Palestinian families trapped in such disasters, while also blocking tents and mobile homes desperately needed for shelter.
Initial reports indicate that a sand dune has collapsed onto two families sheltering in a displacement camp in Deir al-Balah, central Gaza, leaving several people trapped beneath the sand. The incident occurred following heavy rainfall across the central Gaza Strip this evening. Civil Defense teams have been alerted and are being contacted to launch a rescue operation.

Exactly, @krystalball is right — When they call @jamestalarico a “moderate” as he preaches class warfare and taxing the billionaires (as Bernie has for years), what they’re really saying is progressive is mainstream Welcome aboard!
Ball: If you want to call James Talarico a moderate, and then you go and look at what he’s saying and it sounds exactly like Bernie Sanders, good. It’s true. It is the moderate position. That is accurate.

Israeli leaders and generals openly admitted what Gaza’s devastation makes horrifyingly clear: the goal was to make it uninhabitable. To make Palestinian life impossible. To drive Palestinians from their homeland through ethnic cleansing. This is no natural catastrophe. It is engineered devastation: destroying the conditions for survival to destroy the population itself. Extermination by design—compounding the barbaric war crime by eradicating the means to survive. #GENOCIDE

I cannot believe we’re about to pretend that the biggest midterm victory since the Great Depression and the fact that the whole Democratic Party started speaking like Bernie Sanders and Mamdani are unrelated

Voters do not see Schumer or Jeffries as "moderate leaders." They see them as part of a corrupt DC swamp that they voted against. That's why their approval rating is lower than Trump. That's why Talarico has said we should have change and Turek hasn't committed to Schumer. They both know that voting for Schumer is going to make it tougher for them to win re-election.
Replying to @saikatc
Candidates like Cooper, Turek, and Talarico are far closer ideoloically to Schumer than they are to far leftists like Sanders. Most of the new Democrats are overwhelmingly moderate. That seems to be what the voters chose, so the voters are likely comfortable with moderate leaders

Jeffries needs 218 on the first ballot. If he doesn’t get it, alternatives will eventually start emerging. So the key for Jeffries now is to lock down 218 and the key for his opponents is to find the votes needed to block him. Will be in the ballpark of 40-45 no votes.

Microsoft has filed a patent for an AI system that could rewrite what people say during livestreams in real time. It could change words depending on who's watching, taking into account their age, location, and language. The idea is to clean up broadcasts by removing filler words, censoring swearing, or even replacing certain words. The AI could also adjust the speaker's lip movements so viewers wouldn't notice anything had been changed.

DHS arrest elderly woman at anti-ICE sit in protest—drag away by her pants. She's visually impaired & needs cane to walk. One officer can be heard saying: "Take a leg, Jeff." Then 2 officers lift her up & drag disabled woman inside. "I’m defending the Constitution," she said. The sit in occurred after a mock funeral procession & march of remembrance with roughly 200–300 people. Participants carried cardboard coffins and tombstones. They were marking more than 100 people they cited who died in ICE custody—or as a direct result of ICE enforcement actions since January 2025. Incident occurred outside the ICE Law Enforcement Support Center in Williston, Vermont. Nathaniel Maddison doesn't have an active account on this platform—so posting first full length and credited video here to help raise awareness.
