Some folks have been asking why i keep mentioning birds is @FSC_IC certified and why I'm so proud of it. It's not just about the trees (but the trees are a big part of it). An FSC on the box means everyone involved with touching the wood from FSC forests is lived a payable wage.

But here's a sneak peek, cause yeah, we definitely are going to talk about wood. So much wood.
Usage of FSC materials is absolutely standard in other industries: check any book, loo paper, cereal box near you to find that wee tree logo signifying it's been made from sustainable trees*
It's beyond time we did the same in board games.

* longer version: the FSC is the gold standard in wood certification, and includes detailed forestry management and all the interlocking issues, supply chains & specific requirements on recycling. Read more here:

.... You cannot brag about having no plastic in your game and then tote about UV Spot coating, folks. UV Spot coating IS PLASTIC. And permanently ruins that paper it's on.
Practical and effective advice from @BoardgameNews here on reducing cost and environmental impact in your boardgame shipping methods:
Hey publisher friends, W. Eric Martin (@BoardgameNews) shares some differences in shipping/packing options. Some of these more environmentally friendly options might be appealing to consider (and cheaper?), if you're not already using them: youtube.com/watch?v=P-mBg6xO…
Crypto is built on wasting infinitely increasing amounts of energy. You cannot buy off the damage this does to the remaining lifetime of the planet.
Looking forwards to seeing what comes out of this today!

BIG props to @WeirdCityGames for delivering Canopy with no plastic anywhere to be seen! 🌍 The deluxe edition is even wrapped in paper rather than shrink-wrap 🎉 Loving more sustainability from this industry!
Absolutely great to see this kind of development.

German publisher @NSV_Spiele has re-released a handful of its card and dice games in plastic-free versions under the brand "NatureLine". These small box games are packaged inside sleeves made from recycled cardboard, with the cards wrapped by a paper sleeve. —WEM

Hi! Thanks to everyone for the frankly overwhelming response. It's wonderful to see how excited our industry is about sustainability.
Current plan is to launch in March 2021: by then the website will be full of sustainable and viable options for publishers,
and I'll have the specialist knowledge in place to help with specific (and wide) enquiries. Additionally, looking to have some simple iconography to show consumers how sustainable their product is, and plenty of straightforward tips for consumers to play sustainably.
I'm very much looking forwards to working with you!
If you'd like to chat or work together before March, send me an email ([email protected]). If I miss it, please give me a nudge: my inbox is VERY full right now!
