.@AntaresNuclear was selected for the DOEâs Nuclear Energy Launch Pad program.
This June, Antaresâ Mark-0 reached criticality under the Reactor Pilot Program.
That made it the first privately developed non-light-water reactor to go critical in the U.S. in more than four decades.
Launch Pad is the next chapter. Antares now gets DOE authorization support, hands-on expertise from Idaho National Laboratory, help navigating regulation, and flexible contracting as it pushes toward commercial deployment.
As Founder/CEO @jordanbramble put it: âThe Reactor Pilot Program accelerated Antares and deepened our partnership with DOE and NRIC. Launch Pad is the natural continuation of that collaboration and a next step toward delivering reliable power for the missions that matter most.â
Itâs not the only federal vote of confidence. Antares was also selected to deliver microreactors to Joint Base San Antonio under the Air Forceâs Advanced Nuclear Power for Installations initiative.
Next up: Mark-1, the electricity-producing reactor, in 2027.
Congrats to Jordan, @juliadewahl, and the entire Antares team. The House Fund is proud to be backing you on the way there.
.@depthfirstlabs was named to the Forbes Next Billion-Dollar Startups 2026 list, one of only 20 companies to make it!
Qasim Mithani, Daniele Perito,@andreamichi, and team are securing the worldâs software. AI is making it easier than ever to ship software, and easier than ever to attack it.
Forbes closed a $80M Series B led by Meritech Capital less than 90 days after their Series A led by Accel.
Daniele did his postdoc in AI and security at UC Berkeley, was on the founding team at Cash App where he led security, and co-founded Faire. That's the kind of arc Berkeley keeps producing.
The House Fund is proud to be on board for the journey. Congrats to Qasim, Daniele, Andrea, and the entire depthfirst team!
They're hiring across research, engineering, product, and GTM - 15 open roles in San Francisco.
.@limitedgrouphq announced their $18.5M Seed to accelerate pulling forward our stablecoin future.
Limited is one global financial platform:

- Payments to 170+ countries, with local-currency payouts in 60+ currencies
- Stablecoin rails under the hood, so money moves in real time, for free
- Corporate cards, spend controls, and accounting integrations in one place
North Island Ventures, who led the original Seed, doubled down alongside The House Fund and @Collab_Currency, @paraficapital, @PharsalusCap, @DCGco, @1984Ventures, and @OnigiriVC joined as new investors.
Founder/CEO @husseinthoughts is a Berkeley Haas MBA and a second-time fintech founder. It shows in how fast Limited has moved.
Congrats to Hussein and the entire Limited team. The House Fund is proud to double down and to keep backing the journey.
Banking without borders. Go Bears!
.@TIME has named @Eko_Health one of the Worldâs Top HealthTech Companies of 2026, with an âOutstandingâ rating in Medical Devices & Wearables. Second year in a row.
Ekoâs AI-powered stethoscopes and SENSORAÂź platform put earlier detection of heart and lung disease in cliniciansâ hands at the point of care, where the first signs actually show up.
What started on Berkeleyâs campus is now FDA-cleared. Clinically validated. CMS reimbursed.
Thank you TIME for recognizing what clinicians using Eko already see every day.
Congrats to @connorlandgraf, @jason_bellet, Tyler Crouch, and the entire Eko team. The House Fund has been proud to back you since the earliest days.
Go Bears!
Atomic Machines is out of stealth after six years, with $250M raised to date!
Below the low tens of microns, conventional manufacturing runs out of road. Every new micro-device has meant years of custom process development.
The Matter Compiler replaces that with code: an AI-native, digital system that builds working micro-machines with moving parts, multiple materials, and features down to single-digit microns.
No hard tooling. No new process for each new device.
The first machine out of it is PrimeSwitch, a power relay built for the 800-volt systems now powering AI data centers:
- Opens in 50 microseconds, about 1,000x faster than a conventional contactor
- 150 amps continuous, 1,500 volts of galvanic isolation
- 9.5mm across and 3mm thick
- Shipping to early-access customers
As legendary Founder/CEO @jeffholden put it: âWeâre making machines programmable: many materials, moving parts, sealed and wired, straight from a file.â
Jeff was Amazonâs tenth engineer, built Amazon Prime, then became Uberâs first chief product officer. Now heâs building the factory that compiles machines from code. With its original HQ rooted in Berkeley.
Congrats to Jeff and the entire Atomic Machines team. The House Fund is proud to have backed you in stealth, and to be on board for what comes next.
Machines, compiled from code. Stay relentless!

.@wetravel just made its first acquisition: Tourwriter.
WeTravel is the operating system for multi-day and custom travel, handling booking, payments, and operations for more than 10,000 travel businesses and 8,000 partners worldwide.
A year after announcing their $92M Series C, WeTravel is putting it to work.
Tourwriter is the itinerary platform built for bespoke travel designers. 23 years in the hardest corner of the industry, and over $1B in itineraries sold in the last two years alone.
The timing isnât an accident. Custom and luxury travel bookings rose 16% in the first half of 2026, and dollar volume climbed 31% year over year.
An operator designing one trip for one client needs different data and tools than software built to sell seats on a scheduled departure.
Both platforms stay separate. Glenn Campbell continues to lead Tourwriterâs team of nearly 30 across New Zealand and London, now with WeTravelâs engineering, product, and payments infrastructure behind it.
Congrats to @jokoeppel, @TheBigCLE, @ZakyPrabowo, @GaribMehdiyev, and the entire WeTravel team.
The House Fund has been proud to travel with you since the seed. Onward!
Weâre incredibly proud to continue working with @thehousefund!
.@arena just raised a $200M Series B at a $3.1B valuation.
Co-led by our friends Lightspeed and Khosla Ventures, including a16z, AMP PBC, Felicis, Salesforce Ventures, 01 Advisors, Dell Technologies Capital, Endeavor Catalyst, The House Fund, and others.
We're proud investors since the first round, and excited to double down into this round.
Since the Series A:
- $100M+ in annualized revenue
- 350M sessions across the platform
-7M Agent Arena sessions in under five months
- 62M votes across text, vision, code, search, image, and video
- Users in 150+ countries
Alongside the raise, Arena released its Alignment Index, built from real-world agent traces. It starts with three signals across 20+ frontier models: Unauthorized Action, False Attribution, and Deceptive Completion.
Itâs worth remembering where this started. Arena launched in 2023 as a research project out of UC Berkeley. It became a company in 2025.
Today, itâs how the AI industry checks its own work.
Congrats to @ml_angelopoulos, @infwinston, @istoica05, and the entire Arena team!

Huge day. $200M Series B at a $3.1B valuation for @arena and the release of our Alignment Index. I am proud of this team for solving one of the hardest problems in AI: evaluating AI under real-world conditions.
We're still a small team, about 90 people, and we're hiring across ML, product, engineering, design, marketing, BD, and more. If evaluations, safety, and measuring progress interest you, check out the open roles in @arena's bio.
Today, we're announcing our Series B: $200M at a $3.1B valuation, and the release of Arena's Alignment Index.
AI is advancing faster than our ability to evaluate it. The world needs a neutral third party to measure how safe and aligned AI actually is once it's in the hands of real people. That's the role Arena is stepping into today.
The Alignment Index is built from real-world agent traces, starting with three signals: Unauthorized Action, False Attribution, and Deceptive Completion, with results for over 20 frontier models launching today.
Hear more from our CEO @ml_angelopoulos below, and read the full breakdown, and more details about our company growth in thread.
This funding will allow us to go further on safety signals, agentic capabilities, and modalities. It will also allow us to grow the company to match the scale of our mission. Today, weâre still a nimble team of 90, and we're looking for people to join us across research, product, engineering, and more. Come build with us.
As AI gets more capable and autonomous, understanding how well it can safely and effectively work for people only matters more. That's what Arena is built to measure and advance.
Thank you to our community, our investors, and everyone building with us!
Take a look at our open roles if you want to join us (link in bio).

It would be hard to do a weekly series on Berkeley's impact on technology without getting to @matei_zaharia.
His Berkeley story starts with Apache Spark, which began as a research project on campus in 2009, when Matei was a PhD student in the lab that became AMPLab, working on ways to make large-scale data processing faster and more flexible.
Spark eventually became one of the most widely used open-source systems for processing enormous datasets.
Then the researchers behind it set the foundations for @databricks.
Matei and a group of fellow Berkeley researchers turned the technology they had been developing on campus into a company that has since become one of the defining data and AI platforms of its generation. It's now valued at $190B!
The story didn't end with Spark, either. Matei has continued working on widely used open-source data and AI projects including MLflow and Delta Lake, while Databricks has grown from a Berkeley research spinout into a company serving organizations around the world.
And now there's another Berkeley chapter.
Matei is still Databricks' Co-Founder/CTO, but he's also back at Berkeley as an Associate Professor in EECS, conducting research and working alongside another generation of students who may eventually spark pioneering research and/or companies of their own.
Today, his research focuses on one of the biggest open questions in AI: how to build and scale reliable agents. He's a co-author on recent open-source projects including DSPy and GEPA, which automatically optimize prompts and models so agents get better at specific tasks.
This April, ACM awarded him the 2025 ACM Prize in Computing for the distributed data systems that made large-scale analytics, machine learning, and AI possible. A fitting bookend: his Spark dissertation won ACM's Doctoral Dissertation Award back in 2014.
I talk a lot about Berkeley's startup flywheel because Matei's career is a pretty clean example of how it works.
A PhD student invents important technology on campus. The work is released openly and gets adopted around the world. A company grows out of it and becomes a category leader. The people responsible stay connected to Berkeley, and the next generation gets to learn and build alongside them.
Nearly two decades after Spark got its start on campus, that cycle is still going.

Few days are dreams come true. Our inaugural Customer Summit was one of those days.
The last time a portco hosted at One Liberty Plaza in NYC, they were acquired for ~$1.7B soon after.
Complete coincidence, of course. It's a big city. (And to be clear, Laurel is not for sale)
Today @getlaurel is hosting its first conference, called Proof.
Laurel captures professional services work automatically at the source, so lawyers, accountants, and consultants stop reconstructing their week from memory. Firm leaders finally see where their time goes and where each matter earns or loses money.
The premise of Proof is simple: less theory, more receipts.
Leaders from PwC, EY, Freshfields, Reed Smith, Cozen O'Connor, and more are sharing how their AI rollouts actually went and what it means for how firms staff and bill.
Meg Whitman and @ariannahuff close out the day with a fireside chat.
Congrats to @ryanalshak & the Laurel team on this epic first one. I've already learned a ton.

Today, weâre proud to announce Databricks as the new sponsor of Cal Bears Field! đ»
All seven of our co-founders are Cal alumni. The earliest lines of what would become Databricks were written at Berkeleyâs Soda Hall, fueled by late nights and a shared belief that data and AI could accelerate human progress.
This sponsorship is our way of investing in the next generation of researchers and builders whoâll have their own breakthroughs there.
Our mission has always been to democratize data and AI. It started at Cal. Weâre glad to help it continue there.

Today we announced Databricks Field at California Memorial Stadium, our first collegiate athletics sponsorship.

Less than 10 months after launch, Third Prime preempted our round. Today we're sharing it: @limitedgrouphq's Seed is now $18.5M!
Thank you, @farmer_vc and the whole @thirdprimevc family, for seeing the traction early. @NorthIslandVC , who led our original Seed, doubled down alongside @thehousefund and @Collab_Currency , and we're welcoming @paraficapital , @PharsalusCap , @DCGco , 1982 Ventures and Onigiri Capital as new investors. Thank you also to @arche_capital and @SevenXVentures for backing us from the start!
The problem is simple. A company operating across Mexico, Dubai and Hong Kong still moves money through slow wires, opaque FX and a patchwork of local banks, losing money even on transfers between its own entities.
Limited puts it all in one place:
â US, EU, UK, LATAM and Africa business accounts, with no US or other local entities required
â Payments to 170+ countries, with local-currency payouts in 60+ currencies
â Stablecoin rails under the hood, so money moves in real time, for free
â Corporate cards and spend controls for the whole team
â Accounting integrations that keep your books in sync
â DeFi access and yield in a few clicks, within your bank account

Databricks Field was just announced ~ BIG NEWS for the Cal Bears!!!
All seven Databricks co-founders started at Berkeley. The company began in a room in Soda Hall, and its co-founders still teach on campus.
Now their name is on the 50-yard line, in the largest partnership in Cal Athletics history and Databricks' first ever in college sports.
My favorite detail: the deal is funded by UC Berkeley becoming a Databricks shareholder.
Ali Ghodsi said it best: this is about "investing in the next generation of students and builders who'll do their best work on that campus" - including on the gridiron.
That's the Berkeley flywheel in one sentence. Research becomes a company, the company becomes a giant, and the giant pays it forward.
Grateful to have been in some of the rooms that helped bring this together. More on the big news below.
Thank you to the founders, execs, and Databricks team. See you tomorrow night against Clemson. Go Bears!
