I have been through several tsunami elections. The first job for the losing side is to stop and think. The instinct will be to run around and expend energy just to be doing something, but that is not the right strategy. Something big went wrong. Republicans must figure out what it was and how to fix it. I am outlining this lesson from personal experience. gingrich360.net/p/republican…

My identity in Christ means I know who I am. It means that I don't allow the critics to define me - because I have a Creator who has already done that - and a Savior who has given me the only validation I'll ever need.

(Washington Stand) Voters on Tuesday delivered a stunning sweeping victory for Democratic incumbents and challengers across America, giving them substantial majorities in both the Senate and House and presenting President Donald Trump with the prospect of facing a flood of time-consuming subpoenas, hostile congressional inquiries, and impeachment hearings. Final results for dozens of races are not available as this news story is written, but Democrats are assured of at least 54 Senate seats and 231 House seats. Only the Alaska and Mississippi Senate races remain undecided, but on the House side, there remain more than 60 seats not yet declared for either party, according to Ballotpedia earlier this morning. Many conservative evangelicals are disappointed, even devastated, by the results of this week’s elections. In multiple ways, moral positions on issues such as marriage, gender, abortion, and even socialism (a form of economic and political tyranny) were soundly defeated across our nation. For many this is a devastating turn, and the consequences are both real and ominous. What will we do? What we always do. Our trust was never in political powers. Our joy does not come from political victories or social trends. We must be faithful in season and out of season, in victory and in defeat. The truth will not change and did not change on Tuesday. What will we do? We get up and go back to work with a sword and a trowel, defending the truth and building our churches, our families, and where we can, our communities. Strengthen your family. Disciple your children. Go to church. Worship, serve, give, teach, and work to advance God’s kingdom. We may not be able to control where the tree falls or the wind blows (Ecclesiastes 11:3-4) but just the same we get up, sow the seed, trust in God, and continue our journey knowing He is the Lord of all history and nothing happened that caught heaven by surprise. The work continues, the cause endures, and our eternal victory is as sure as an empty tomb.

Last night, Republicans lost the U.S. House, the U.S. Senate, and my home state of Texas, a conservative cornerstone for more than three decades, because our party forgot the basic rules of coalition politics:   1. Add, don’t subtract 2. Be likeable 3. Do what you promised 4. Character & integrity still matter   Time to turn the page and rebuild. Read my full thoughts in the @WSJ: wsj.com/opinion/republicans-…

The Republican Party stripped a lot of its core values from its platform. We have to acknowledge that abortion rates in this country have gone up by over 20% because of policies that are kept in place by the Trump administration. I don't think God honors that. Part of these election results may be a chastisement upon a Party that became complacent on moral and value issues. Michele Bachmann: "Right."

The big story from last night is Democrats taking control of both the House of Representatives and the Senate. But many Americans may be unaware that voters in four states also considered significant ballot measures related to abortion. In this article for @FRCdc, I break down each measure, explain how it fared, and consider what the results mean moving forward. washingtonstand.com/article/…

The midterms are now over, leaving some very concerned—while others are elated. We see our country inching closer toward socialism, which is historically an enemy of God and His Word. However, today I am reminded that even though change is coming, as followers of Jesus Christ our job hasn’t changed! We are to live for Him in obedience to His Word, shine His light and truth in the ever-darkening world around us, and make disciples.

The morning after the election, God’s Word to the church still stands: “As many as I love, I rebuke and chasten: be zealous therefore, and repent.” (Revelation 3:19) He loves us enough to wake us up. We have hope. We have Jesus. bunnipounds.org/updates/afte…
