Kamal has passed on. It's difficult to imagine JNU without him. He was the first to escort/reach the injured student to the hospital. Always with a colleague in need. Voice of reason in students union and teachers association. There was much more to him-
39, Dakshinapuram, JNU campus, home to Professor Anuradha Chenoy & Prof @KamaIChenoy . Must have been the autumn of 1999, over a weekend I was invited by Kamal sir around 6 in the evening. Seated next to Sitaram Yechury on a cane sofa in his drawing room, he asked me to help myself at the bar and join the conversation. The start to a long association where I learnt so much from him in classrooms, his ground-floor SIS bdg office and in outstation trips. These pictures, I had clicked during our Rajasthan tour in the year 2000 where he danced with us during Dhaba stops, even spent a night at Jaipur’s ‘Muslim Musafirkhaana’ as our bookings got cancelled at the last minute! That was JNU in those days and Kamal Chenoy epitomised the freedom and space shared with students along with other greats in the faculty…….A few months ago, I messaged Anu ma’am asking about his health and the reply said it all….”we are doing our best, Nitin”.

यूपी में करोड़ों रुपये ख़र्च करके एक्सप्रेसवे बनाए गए. मगर ऐसे कई मौक़े रहे, जब उद्घाटन के कुछ दिनों या महीनों के अंदर ही एक्सप्रेसवे कई जगहों से ख़राब हाल में दिखे.
बीबीसी ने यूपी में एक्सप्रेसवे में ऐसी कई जगहों का दौरा किया. कुछ जगह नए एक्सप्रेसवे पर इतने गड्ढे दिखे कि गिनती करना भी मुश्किल हो गया.
एनएचएआई ने लखनऊ-कानपुर एक्सप्रेसवे में आई गड़बड़ियों को लेकर पीएनसी इंफ्राटेक की सब्सिडियरी कंपनी अवध एक्सप्रेसवे प्राइवेट लिमिटेड को तीन साल के लिए सड़क परिवहन और राजमार्ग मंत्रालय, एनएचएआई और उनकी एजेंसियों से जुड़े किसी भी प्रोजेक्ट में भविष्य में बोली लगाने से प्रतिबंधित कर दिया है
कंपनी के पास इस प्रतिबंध के ख़िलाफ़ अदालत जाने का विकल्प है.
