Standing with youth to take a stand against gun violence. This month, First Asst. U.S. Attorney Michael Simpson joined by St. James Parish Sheriff Claude Louis Jr., his staff, school administration officials, teachers and students led students at Cypress Grove Montessori Academy in St. James Parish, Louisiana in taking a pledge never to use a gun to commit an act of violence. Instead, students were encouraged to use their collective voices and influence to keep themselves and their communities safe by rejecting gun violence. Participating schools throughout the Eastern District of Louisiana also took this gun violence prevention pledge with support from the local law enforcement community. Thank you to the administration of Cypress Grove Montessori Academy and all schools that took the gun violence prevention pledge this year! Collectively, we can make a difference!

According to court documents, the alleged ringleader earned millions of dollars arranging sham marriages between illegal aliens and U.S. citizens, charging up to $40,000 per marriage to fraudulently obtain immigration status. The operation allegedly arranged 18–20 sham marriages annually, using staged wedding photographs and fraudulent documentation to deceive immigration authorities.
