My book "HOW RUSSIA WON: Donald Trump, Vladimir Putin, the Fight for America" is out today. It's time to reclaim the Trump-Russia narrative and recognize Putin is continuing his years-long war on America and Trump is complicit.

Maryland charges more children as adults than any other state except Alabama. Nine out of 10 are children of color. And more than 80% of cases automatically charged in adult court are sent back to the juvenile system. (1/4)
It ends automatic adult charging, saves Maryland money, and helps to ensure young people are connected with the resources they need to lead stable lives. Research shows that young people handled in the juvenile system are less likely to reoffend than those prosecuted as adults.
Anonymous power is unaccountable power. Marylanders have a right to know who is conducting law enforcement actions in their communities.
I’m proud of the legislation we passed last session to stop masked federal agents in Maryland.

The work of Alexis de Tocqueville is resonating with leaders in the civic space lately. Why? Our civic fabric is being pulled apart, and we are seeking a path toward civic renewal.

My Statement on Court Ruling Keeping Maryland’s Law on Machine Gun Convertible Pistols in Place:
“Maryland has the right to protect its communities from weapons that can be rapidly turned into machine guns. Modified handguns are being used in and recovered from crimes at an increasing rate, and the General Assembly acted responsibly to confront this crisis.
Today’s ruling is an important first step, and it means this law stays in place while the case moves forward. I am grateful to the attorneys in our Office who defended this law so ably, and we will keep defending it at every stage of this litigation.”

The last 3 Democratic presidents have created 24 times more jobs than the last 3 Republicans.
Nearly 50 million on the Democratic side of the ledger vs. just 2 million for the GOP.

Hoping that Councilmember Jawando is on the road to recovery.
This is an apt reminder that heart disease is the #1 cause of death in the U.S. more people die from heart disease than cancer. Absolutely F&#@ cancer, but we need to take care of our heart health, too.
Will Jawando, the likely next county executive of Maryland’s largest county (Montgomery), has been hospitalized following a heart attack suffered while playing basketball.

Thankful and relieved to hear @willjawando is on the mend. Will is a father, a husband, a dedicated public servant, and a good man. And while I look forward to working with him to move our county forward - I’m most thankful for the privilege of his friendship.

The most important outcome is clear: Marylanders will have their say. This November, the decision belongs to the people.

Why is Maryland holding a special session? Here's what's really happening — and what's at stake. This is NOT a new map. It's a constitutional amendment about the rules — and if it passes, YOU get the final say in November.

Our parole reform is now law. ✍️
Proud to have carried this in the Senate (SB 822) with @Embry4Delegate leading in the House (HB 467). Public reasoning, recorded hearings, guaranteed follow-up hearings & victim statements considered every time.
