A special shout out with much gratitude to the tree removal crews, still operating all over the city removing debris from last week's storm. It's Labor Day but they are working clearing pathways to the schools, businesses and gathering places, all making the city walkable again.
Happy Labor Day to all DC workers and their employers that fuel our city economy, helping to keep many housed and fed, as many more hope for a brighter new day.

This… 100% ⬇️ A DC public school graduation diploma needs to be awarded only when students have met the standards & are proficient in skills that will allow them to succeed in either a 2 or 4 year school or a living wage career. DC must close the proficiency gap!
If nearly 80% of DC students are graduating, why are only 1/3 proficient in reading and math, & why do just 16% graduate ready for college and a career?
My latest op-ed in @51stnews argues something simple: a DC diploma should mean something!

Democratic leaders apparently never heard of generational change. That is what is happening in the party with the wins by the younger candidates. Some people want to hold on to power forever. Voters are saying no. This is how democracy works.
Super congratulations on your Juneteenth opening. This is history. May your young-Black-woman owned business be celebrated, profitable, customers supported & add revenue to our city's economy, as an example of entrepreneurship ingenuity from a DC nativeborn. #UrbanGardenBrewhouse
Happy Juneteeth DC stay proud as we work together keeping DC free, equitable and home to all, as we practice lessons learned from members of our city's Black community that have passed on. And on Sunday, have a wonderful Fathers Day.
American Leaders together for our country, one nation of liberty, justice and respect, under God for the love of us all.
Whatever's your side in today's anxious world- liberated or oppressed, freedom fighter or inflictor, and whatever your faith, may our united national spirit lead our thoughts and deeds to observing Memorial Day 2026 remembering the sacrifices of our many fallen for you and me.
Happy Mother's Day to mothers everywhere. May today be peaceful, loving and fun as you enjoy every minute of this blessed time filled with recognition of you.

This reads like an uninformed new candidate running for Council with a laundry list complaints and zero recognition of the reality DC has been outspending revenue for years. There are some serious fiscal challenges ahead and as we've seen the past few years raising more revenue for DC gov't to spend more hasn't helped the economy even before President Orangina axed a lot of Federal jobs.
DC is spending $2.1B more every year now AFTER inflation and not seeing results. "Fighting" for more of the same is idiocy.

The public-funded “fair elections program” needs to be the absolute first eliminated in a budget crisis. A 5x (500%) match is exorbitant. To suggest this program helps candidates encourage small donor engagement vs large donors is simply not a ground truth.

DC faces a fiscal crisis with a potential $1B deficit. The Council will have many new faces in 2027, making it critical to elect ppl with actual legislative + budgetary experience.
For Democratic At-Large— that’s Kevin Chavous. Meet him on Saturday to help him get on the ballot.
Warning: pancakes and politics ahead! 😋🥞
We need 2,000 valid registered DC voter signatures to get on the ballot. Join me + my team for flapjacks, a crash course on my platform, and to learn how to collect signatures without losing friends.
