Happy Birthday, My Little Girl... With love, from Fat Harry. ❤️🐾 Hello, Mummy Priya. It's me. Your Fat Harry😻 Do you remember me? Of course you do. I was there at the very beginning, when you were just eight years old. You were such a little girl. And I was just a chubby lost cat. Neither of us could possibly have known what was beginning that day. I didn't know anything about rescue, or sacrifice, or the extraordinary life you would one day lead. All I knew was that a little girl had noticed me. That she cared for me, and loved me. That somehow, in this great big world, I had become important to someone. And that someone was you! Oh, Priya...if only you could see what I've seen from up here. I've been watching you all these years... I've watched that little girl grow into a woman who never forgot what her heart taught her when she was eight. I've watched you walk into dark and frightening places to find the forgotten. I've watched you carry sick and broken little bodies in your arms, whispering promises that you would do everything you could to make them well. I've watched you give away pieces of your own comfort, your security, your happiness...so that another little life might have a chance. I've seen the tears, too. Oh, my little girl, how I've wished I could reach down and wipe them away. I've seen you question yourself. Wonder whether you could keep going. Whether all the sacrifices were worth it. And I've wanted so badly to tell you something. Look what we started, Mummy! Look at all those beautiful lives! The babies who once trembled with fear and now sleep without a care in the world. The hungry ones who will never know hunger again. The sick ones who were given a fighting chance. The old ones who found tenderness and dignity in their final years. The ones who went on to wonderful families, and the ones who stayed right there beside you. And yes, my darling girl...the ones who came home to me. I was waiting for them. And when they arrived, I told them all about you. I told them about the little girl who loved a cat named Fat Harry, and how that love grew into something so much bigger than either of us could ever have imagined. But every one of them already knew your name. Because every one of them had felt your love. I wish I could give you something wonderful for your birthday. I wish I could give you back the years you've spent worrying, the sleep you've lost, the dreams you've put aside, and the countless things you've done without. But perhaps I can give you something even more precious. The knowledge that your life has mattered. Profoundly. Beautifully. Beyond anything you will ever fully understand. That if you had not graced this world…all of our lives would have been much different, even sadly ended as we would not have saved. You were only eight years old when you changed my world. And all these years later, you're still changing worlds. One little life at a time. So please, on your birthday, do something for me. Be kind to that little girl who still lives inside you. The one who couldn't walk past a cat who needed her. The one who believed that even the smallest life was worth saving. The one who never imagined how heavy that beautiful heart would sometimes become. Tell her I'm proud of her. Tell her that all of us are. And tell her that when her work on earth is finally done, there will be quite a welcoming committee waiting for her. I'll be right at the front. The other 3,082 right behind me.
