A few years ago at a company dinner, a VP I respected asked me about Bitcoin. I gave him everything I had. Fixed supply, block rewards, peer-to-peer cash. Then he asked one question I had never thought about. My face went hot and I stopped talking, realizing I was repeating things instead of understanding them. It took me a lot longer than it should have to see what actually happened at that table. Reciting is what fluency feels like from the inside, right up until someone outside your framework asks something you rehearsed around. And by then my identity had already started forming around being the guy who understood something the people around me didn’t. That heat is what I wrote a book about. Where it comes from, what it is protecting, and what you get in the small moment when you catch it before it finishes its work. A lot of people say they're in Bitcoin because of the money printer. Debasement, inflation, what it quietly takes from people. That's a moral framing. Something is being done, and this is the exit. Many of those same people cheer a rate cut. But a rate cut is the throttle opening. Cheaper borrowing means more borrowing, and more borrowing means more money created. If the printer is the problem, a rate cut is more of the problem. So why does it feel like good news? Because it is good news, for us. Cheap money bids up everything that can't be printed, and we own one of those things. Which means the objection was never really a moral one. It was a position. Be accurate about the motives and just say you want the Fed to pump your bags and drop the moral framing so you can feel clean.

Before you argue about the right direction, check whether you want to end up in the same place.
