Although total losses declined year-on-year, incident frequency increased significantly, highlighting the continued evolution of on-chain security threats. Key findings include: 🔹 Ethereum remained the most targeted blockchain, with 79 incidents and USD 492 million in losses 🔹 DeFi protocols recorded 64 incidents, with losses reaching USD 468 million 🔹 Social engineering became a major loss driver, contributing approximately USD 630 million in losses 🔹 Smart contract vulnerabilities remained a critical attack vector, with 94 incidents and USD 713 million in combined losses 🔹 Emerging risks included EIP-7702 phishing, AI supply chain poisoning, recruitment-based backdoor penetration, wallet drainers, and cross-chain RPC infrastructure attacks The report provides in-depth analysis of threat actor tactics, illicit fund flow patterns, and risk mitigation measures for Web3 projects, exchanges, developers, institutions, and users. Held alongside the inauguration of its third Executive Committee and celebrations of Jinan University’s 120th anniversary, the event brought together alumni and professionals across economics, finance and technology.
