At Reconvene, I was asked what other conferences (besides ICSC) do I recommend for retail? My response: @automaticmeetup (@iononrecourse does an amazing job with these) @shoptalk (great insight into the retailers logistics, marketing etc) @RetailLive (access to retailers very easy) @ICSC Law Conference (all Directors of Leasing should attend this at least once)

One of my frozen dessert tenants added Greek yogurt to their offerings - sales up 30% last 3 months!

I'm so happy that a few folks @ReconveneLA mentioned they are getting value from my podcast "I Own A Shopping Ctr, Now What?" It's great when you can take 40 years of operating retail and pay it forward in 100 episodes of 10 min or less!

The amount of franchise calls I get from newly retired boomers is staggering. It's crucially important for Landlords to qualify these former W2s. Just because the franchisor approves these potential franchisees, does NOT mean they ARE qualified to become great tenants in our assets. Money and experience are crucial. They may have 1, but they prob don't have the other. And just because they are aligning with a franchise, doesn't guarantee success. AND getting a SBA loan isn't the same as cash resources! This is going to be an epidemic that will impact future occupancy in our centers. Landlords PLEASE do your due diligence on these prospects! Don't let franchisors bully you into approving these "start ups" by disguising them as "experienced". Rant ended.

At @ReconveneLA dine around last night, We debated the pros and cons of investing solo or raising F/F money thru syndications. We discussed prefs, fees, sweat equity and more. I met someone who buys dollar stores in packages, I am consulting with a family who owns a portfolio of dollar stores who just decided to sell them. 🤔 I shared an uber with @JamesNelsonNYC who wrote one of the best investment books ever and we chatted about our adventures this summer - me -Camino, him- 29029 - and how our new fave book is @DieWithZero! The restaurant had a fabulous view of the sunset.... Out of 12, I was only female. C'mon ladies you need to attend events like this! I can't wait for the events today! Curated breakfast tables, lunches - and interesting speakers! Did I mention the homemade cookies?😎 @moseskagan @SimranKagan
