Instead of bringing in guest speakers to talk about teaching and inspire us with anecdotes, why not have them actually teach? Put them in a real classroom and let’s watch the magic happen. Let us see how they plan, how they adjust in the moment, how they respond to student questions, manage behavior, and assess understanding. Now that’s the kind of professional development that would actually inspire me.

We always focus on how distracting cell phones are for students, but they are equally as distracting for teachers. A teacher scrolling “reels” while students are working independently instead of walking the room answering questions, is also damaging to learning.

Tech does not fix education. It ruins it.
The U.S. has spent over $30,000,000,000 on replacing textbooks and other school supplies with computers. This massive investment has resulted in the first generation in modern history to be less cognitively capable than the generation before.

Schools are meant to support families, not replace them. That means parents need to actually parent, and the govt & communities need to stop treating schools as the fix for bad parenting. Educators who think otherwise might be influenced a bit too much by “teacher hero” movies.

If you haven’t taught in a classroom post-Covid, you don’t know what it is like to teach the modern student. The students have changed. Teaching has changed. You have to be in the classroom daily to understand what I mean.

No, we should not “meet students where they are.” We should teach the standards for the course, so students don’t miss out on grade-level instruction. Many students may also need intervention, and differentiation can’t take its place.

We’ve created a school system where the students who follow the rules get the least attention… because all the energy goes into managing the ones who don’t.

We’ve removed failure from school. Then we’re shocked when adults fail (and quit) in real life.

Unpopular opinion: your kid doesn’t need another activity this summer. They need an afternoon with nothing to do and nowhere to be. Boredom isn’t bad parenting. It’s actually some of the best parenting you can do.

No kings, but one—King Jesus! He’s the King of kings and the Lord of lords, and the Bible tells us that at the name of Jesus one day every knee will bow, and every tongue will confess that Jesus is Lord!  And He’s coming back. Are you ready?

Forgiveness is not a grant of access; it is the enforcement of a healthy boundary. Forgive to settle your soul, but set boundaries to protect your future. Set those healthy boundaries…Buy the book a.co/d/0dc7CGeD

A Supreme Court Justice - not a musician - applauding anti-ICE messaging at an awards show. She must now be recused from any case dealing with immigration enforcement. This is why Supreme Court Justices don’t parade around like celebrities. Their job is to interpret the law.
